A friend introduced me to this, and I had to share it. This is a site where you can listen to internet radio free, except that you can control the station. For example, I typed in the band name "Skillet" and it created a station for me that only plays Skillet and music that's similar to Skillet. If timx4 came and typed in "Coldplay," it would only play Coldplay and music similar to Coldplay. :-P Interested?

http://www.pandora.com/

You can create multiple stations, skip tracks you don't like, pause, rate tracks so it knows what music you like... and it's free and legal.

Oh, I've been a fan of Pandora for a couple years now. :P Well, maybe a year. I can't really remember. XD No, it was a couple years because one of my coworkers back in 2006 introduced me to it.

It's a pretty sweet thing, I have to agree. I haven't listened to any random stations of my choosing in a long time...but I still love it.

My list of typing in artists is far too long to list. ;)

What's really awesome is all the similar/recommended music. Definately turned me on to some music/artists I would have otherwise never heard of. XD

YAY for Pandora!

We are deeply, deeply sorry to say that due to licensing constraints, we can no longer allow access to Pandora for listeners located outside of the U.S. We will continue to work diligently to realize the vision of a truly global Pandora, but for the time being we are required to restrict its use. We are very sad to have to do this, but there is no other alternative.

But they're apparently working to get their licenses outside the U.S.

^^ that's just sad....it probably has something to do with licensing issues across country borders. it does make me happy to be in the us, though.

Yeah... kinda sad.. so we non-U.S.'ers will have to do with Last.fm and the like for now.. :-)

^You could just access it with a proxy located within the US. But that would be wrong. ;)

*totally thought this was about the user Pandora who had somehow created an internet radio*

But now that I know what it actually is, I'm much less surprised, and maybe I'll even check it out! :D

Well, Pandora had no idea who Alizee was, so I was like "What? " But I like Last.fm a bit better.

OOh! I love Pandora too! I love the extra feature I downloaded on Last.Fm that allows me scrobble all the stuff I listen to on Pandora on Last.Fm...It's rad. xD The only part of Pandora that makes me sad is that they don't have any Arabic pop music on it...:(

I enjoy Pandora and have quite a list of stations. The 'thumbs up' and the artist and track bookmarks help the selection of similar music, and I've discovered quite a few bands I had previously not known via Pandora. Sadly, some bands I like aren't carried by Pandora.

I was told ablut this recently. I had heard about it before but never looked into it.

My deal is Youtibe has my music playlist but videos take too much data. So i can not listen to music without my wifi (aka being at home)

The person who told me about this most recently says Pandora has a selection of music as big as youtube. Is that accurate? I honestly have trouble believing that. Also, does anyone use it on their phone with data plan to know how much data it uses to listen to music on it?

I have Stellamara Radio on now.
I have it connected to my cable internet so don't know how much data it would use.

I note that many artists I look up on Pandora are not there, but are on Spotify. Now I have not used Spotify on principle as it is said their rights payments to artists is nearly nil. I need to do more research into this.

I've heard of it and know people who use it, but I don't. I use Last.fm internet radio and have for nearly ten years.

I'm still cranky that Pandora closed up shop in Australia at the end of July 2017. >:(
