Post subject: | Top 10 favourite soundtracks |
So, there might be another topic like this, but I'm too lazy to go back searching for it, and if there is one like it, it's not been seen recently. ^_^ So, the question. What are your top ten favourite soundtracks? 1. Gladiator -- the diversity of this soundtrack is what makes me love it so much. While retaining a certain style, it ranges from dramatic music that gets my blood pumping a lot faster to parts that definitely put me in a melancholy mood for a while. I love this soundtrack. ^_^ 2. Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End -- This soundtrack, as well, has a very diverse range, but instead of heartstring-pulling melancholy songs, it ranges into soaring themes for the 'romantic' parts. I love music with leitmotifs--AWE provides them aplenty. 3. Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest -- I much like this soundtrack, especially with all of the cello parts in it. "The Kraken" is such an awesome song. 4. Batman Begins -- Amazing scores. It all works together to give am much darker feeling to Nolan's Batman, and completely eradicates the horror that was all previous adaptions of Batman. ^_^ It's got some very moving slow songs. It also has some awesome dramatic sequences, with, again, a lot of cello involved. 5. The Last Samurai -- A very evocative soundtrack. One that's lacking in leitmotifs, but provides soaring bits that capture one's emotions quite effectively on a regular basis. Merged with the simple "Japan" theme, it's definitely earned it's presence on my top-10 list. 6. Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith -- How do I say it? It's the compilation of all of the best parts of Star Wars along with new themes. It's amazing, in short. 7. Kingdom of Heaven -- w00t for leitmotifs! KoH has a lot of them. Whatever the movie itself was lacking, the soundtrack makes up for it. 8. The Village -- In short, I love the violins in this soundtrack. 9. 3:10 to Yuma -- I don't have this soundtrack, and I've only seen the movie once, but I've heard the songs on YouTube, and the guitar has captured my heart. ^_^ Or rather, less eloquently, it's just another awesome soundtrack. 10. Superman Returns -- Many cool themes in this one. It's got some that weren't in the original movie, which is why I have this one instead of the original. |

All 3 LOTR Soundtracks, of course. And I like the Musical Scores in the Pirates Of The Caribbean and Spider-Man movies. And The Chonicles of Narnia. I think that adds up to about 10 or 11. |

Lol, we all have fairly varied preferences. ^_^ Hans Zimmer is common ground, though. |

Yeah, he definitely is. So are (to a lesser degree) James Newton Howard and Harry Gregson-Williams. |

Eragon? o_O I didn't really pay attention to that music...I was busy trying not to groan at the movie. Okay, yeah, the original trilogy was great...it just didn't earn a place on my top 10. |

ErulissëEnethNîn wrote: [*]Les Misérables [Basil Poledouris] - The 1998 film version. The score is unbelievably beautiful. It's heartbreaking, heartwarming and haunting all at the same time. I can't explain it, you just have to listen to it! "Caring For Fantine", "Marius And Cosette", "Theme From Les Misérables" and "Valjean Saves Marius" stand out the most.
Ack!!! I love that movie and its music!!!!!! |
