I looooove Disney songs, but then I'm a sucker for musicals and Disney films are pretty much that!!!

My favourite ever Disney song is Colours of the Wind in Pocahontas- it's so beautiful and powerful!! The Hunch Back of Notre Dame has an amazing sound track too- and I love beauty and the Beast to death!!

BTW is there anyone here who's familiar with Rodger's and Hammerstein's musicals?? I'm doing an R&H concert at the minute and it's amazing how close Disney get to their melodies at times! the First verse of Maria from the Sound of Music is near enough the same tune as Kill the Beast in BatB, whilst they play all of the songs from Ohklahoma around Disney World Parks!!!

I really really love the villain songs.

Some of the other songs are..you know, okay. But good god, the villains! They sound like they're having so much fun.

My favourites are:

Be Prepared - The Lion King
Poor Unfortunate Souls - The Little Mermaid
Hellfire - The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Friends on the Other Side - The Princess and the Frog
The World's Greatest Criminal Mind - The Great Mouse Detective
Kidnap the Sandy Claws - The Nightmare Before Christmas

I love Oklahoma! I was walking around Disney one day and I stopped and in my excitement shouted "This is from Oklahoma!"....and my parents moved away from me, lol. I have a cd that has the music that they play in some of the rides, like in Space Mountain, and in Winnie The Pooh and what not. its pretty cool.

@Lith - I know right!!! it's amazing!! My friend was all "I don't know what Disney song that is" and I was like "It's Oklahoma!!!!" then we started singing Kansas City lol!

That CD sounds epic, I searched spotify for something like that when I got back, but had no luck!! I wanted to listen to the 'Celebrate a Dream come True' music for the parade... it was stuck in my head all the time I was there!!

@Evenstar- I completely forgot about Reflection from Mulan, in fact loads of the songs are brilliant in that film too!!! & When you believe is beautiful too though not Disney- but still amazing!!

o.0 really??? That's strange cause the film was made by Dreamworks Animations , but then I downloaded a Disney CD with Anastasia songs on it too, and that's 20th Century Fox... I guess that they're such good films, everyone assumes that they're Disney :). Still a great song though :)

@Frosties: Be Prepared is awesome.. but all of Scar is awesome ... It was my very first experience with Jeremy Iron's hypnotic voice!! :P

Circle of Life is great, mainly because if the whole morning on the savannah.. when the sun is creeping up behind the hills and the animals gathering around Pride Rock.

When You Believe, a beautiful song and Whitney and Mariah doing an amazing vocal job!! :)

@Ea: Well, then. Let's be grateful kids didn't get exposed to Davie Bowie until Labyrinth. Oh boy...I can't imagine how many mindless children we would have if he sang a villains' song.

Morgana is right, Prince of Egypt was DreamWorks. But if you want to go that route, I can't imagine how for the life of me you can talk about great songs in that movie without at least a mention of The Plagues song. Take a listen at the Japanese version. It's really epic.

And you guys! I'm seriously disappointed. No love for villain songs? Especially Hellfire. Listen to it as an adult and you'll be amazed just how much crap got past the censors. Inappropriate sexual lust? Check. Carnal temptation? Check. Burning people alive? Check.

Alright, I'll show the villains some love. Scar's song 'Be Prepared' is awesome, and Gaston's songs from Beauty and the Beast are good. And Ratigan's song from The Great Mouse Detective! I love that movie! Thats all thats comin to mind right now, I'm sure there are others though.
Has anyone else noticed that the Disney movies being put out today just dont seem to have the awesome songs they had in the old movies, if they have songs in them at all? It all seems to be going to more instrumental stuff, rather than havin characters sing. I miss the way it all used to be, the music, the classic animation, where did it all go?

I love 'Step in Time' from Mary Poppins. I've probably listened to it dozens of times.

And 'Belle' from Beauty and the Beast. My theme song. "...nose stuck in a book."

^Belle is totally the best Disney Princess (because Pocahontas isn't officially a Disney Princess D:)

Ok I went on a dvd spree the other day and got Pocahontas, Mulan and Hercules- which I haven't seen since I saw it at the Cinema- Zero to Hero definitely deserves some love, because it rocks!!
