I'll just leave this here....
This young lady can sing and play a mean acoustic guitar!

That is certainly some great playing. That is the style of guitar playing I always wanted to learn. I sadly never got very far in that particular kind of playing. It's quite more complicated than it may sound. lol

Here is mine for the day. A lovely song. :)

Fred Smith's Dust of Uruzgan has to be one of the best Afghanistan war songs I've heard. It tells a true story.

Since we got into the old christian music discussion.... Here is a flash back from my early pre-teen obsession. :P

Lovely vid Jax!

I've really been getting into the Arabic sound of late.

Hanasian, it is haunting, indeed. We met this wonderful fellow from the region who introduced my son and me to that type of music, and also to the cuisine.

There's a great deal of introduction, so wait for it, and Maya Youssef is a Master at her art, to be sure.

Love that vid Silmalassë!

So I came across this wonderful Hurdy Gurdy video. The range of sounds, both beautiful and strange that comes out of one instrument….

Hanasian, what haunting music! Omigosh, it's so eerie and compelling.

I love the glass armonica for its unique sound, as well. There was a time when people would get lead poisoning from playing it because of the lead content of the glass.

And, I need to know who these people are - these folks that create incredibly intricate instruments, and they're so precise, too. There is still a great amount of creative energy out there, and it's gratifying to see people "Doing Something" with that energy.

A friend of mine is working on engineering a cover of Rikki Don't Lose That Number with steel drums.

There is some wonderful music here!

Hanasian, you seem to really like harp music. This artist caught my attention because of where I first heard him, in the redwoods, and his Celtic/Middle-earth sound. The venue is across the street from where my niece and nephew live, on Skyline Blvd which sits on the top of the mountains between our valley and the coast.

The intro is long but I think worth the wait.

Silmalassë, I LOVE that kind of creative genius! Here's one I saw on PBS a few years ago.

That is a wonderful song! I added it to one of my playlists. Yes, I have been into harps and Hurdy Gurdys for a few years now since I saw an acoustic band playing at the tavern at the Medieval Fair here. I discovered bands like Faun and Shireen and Irfan, and as an extension, I have gotten into the eastern European and Middle Eastern music as well. Most of my shares in this thread over the last few years are something of that sort.

Right now I'm getting back to the early 70's...
Love this song, and still like the edit of the LotR movie to it in this vid.

I know Findë! I found myself bawling! :'-( :'-( The editors used the Aragorn and Arwen scenes well for the song, which I have to say, had only heard Blackmoore's Night do live. I take it this is the original song? I'll have to ask my dad and show him this. He was a seventies kid. Thanks for sharing Hanasian!

Yes, Soldier of Fortune was written by David Coverdale and released Deep Purple's Stormbringer album.
That is is the original studio track from that album.

Heard Agnes Obel on Stellamara Radio on Pandora today and loved it. This is an interesting vid....

I really like the music and voices. They are rather haunting.
