What I meant was that less people have heard of Grieg than of Bach and Beethoven.
That's wonderful, Herenya! My mother and I are working on Anitra's Tanz for piano, arranged by Grieg himself. My favorite is probably Ase's Death.

Kudos to Kitoky for the fabulous signature set, and art credit to engelszorn.

Yeah.. it should be interesting. We haven't done anything in Orchestra like that for years - I certainly haven't since I joined. And I think the pianist we're doing it with is REALLY good.
Downside - the viola part is probably worse than normal, if there is basically no focus on strings at all (In the Aragonaise - I so want to change it to "Aragorn" - in Carmon we have 40 bars of the same two pizzacarto quavers... *shudders*)

Anyone seen the old FANTASIA film from the 60s? I LOOOVE all the pieces of music on there, it's what really got me into classical music!

I love classical I'd have it on my iPod if I had an iPod, which sadly I do not.
But I do love Pachebel Canon, Moonlight Sonata, most of The Nutcracker songs, Vivaldi's The Four Seasons, Peer Gynt, Rondo Alla Turca...the list goes on and on...
I'd say that people who really dislike classical music are stranger than those who do.

I adore classical music too, but I'm very into the symphonic music. My favourite composers are Dvorà k, Smetana, Liszt, Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky (though I never know how to spell this name ) and of course Tschaikovsky. I actually do not posess any modern music... Everything ends with Rachmaninov in 1942.

I love Gabriel Faure, I sing a ton of his French Art Songs. My favorite is Apres un Reve and Aurore
I'm more into the Romantic Era than the Classical, the only Classical composers I really listen to are Mozart and Haydn.
I especially love Schubert, Puccini, Verdi, Chopin, Rachmaninov and Wagner they are all Romantic composers

Aww that's too bad. I personally believe that to appreciate music one must listen to all kinds of music or else one is not a Music lover, simply a lover of a specific kind of music. Just my opinion

I love classical music! I really like Knight Ruppert by Schumann. It tells a really good story! Also, I like Fantasia in D minor by Telemann and Presto by Prescettii *realises she just listed all some of her piano songs from over the years* It really takes a musician to appreciate it, though. It takes hard work to play an invention, but some of today's music could have been written by a computer. *sigh*
But for orchestra music, I love Overature to Marriage of Figaro (Mozart's of course)! Oh, and Emperor Waltz by Strauss!!
And I love the Russian composers! Their work is amazing! Katchaturian!

At the moment I'm listening to Schubert.
I like baroque mainly, especially to play. I'm not sure why, but I just always like them better, and so I work at them more and can therefore play them better.
Plus, they don't require as much vibarto, and my vibrato is, well.... tempermental.
In orchestra we are playing Montagues and Capulets from Romeo and Juliet, and a couple of pieces from Peer Gynt.
I don't know how people can dislike classical music. I can understand how you could be indiferent, but how could you not likeit when it's so beautiful?
*fails to comprehend*
