You can put this thread in the Movies and TV section if you'd like. It would probably go best under that section. ![]() |

I love the Gladiator soundtrack- I am listening to it right now! 'Patricide' is a very fierce, powerful piece of music, as is 'The Battle..' |

I really want to buy it, I just haven't gotten around to it yet! But, I listen to it a lot on the Interenet radio. I really like the song "Now we are free" ![]() |

I think this may be because Hans Zimmer who composed the music for Gladiator over-produced and did the final editing of Klaus Badelt's score for PotC, and that's why they sound so similiar--it's basically the same guy doing the music. Klaus Badelt DID technically do the scoring for PotC, but it was Hans Zimmer who was basically in charge of it. I noticed that too when I watched Gladiator; how similar both movies were in scoring, and then I remembered it's because Hans Zimmer did some work on PotC. ![]() |

I don't think it's that the music is the same, but certain composers have certain styles and you can often 'hear' a composer in a score before you even know who wrote it. It often works like that with Danny Elfman (Sleepy Hollow/Spiderman) and John Williams (Star Wars/Indiana Jones). |

My favourites are The Battle, The Might of Rome, The Barbarian Horde and - perhaps most of all Now We Are Free. After all the violence in the battle music the song is so peaceful and uplifting. I have been known to sing along to it when I am driving. |

I am huge movie score fan (and I mean huge, I have hundreds upon hundreds of scores on my mp3 player and close to 30 or 40 soundtrack CDs), but the Gladiator soundtrack was somewhat of a disappointment. The only really good track was The Battle, but the rest didn't really do anything for me. |

I haven't heard the Gladiator or even seen the film (except for two snipets in English last year) but we played music from it in Orchestra a couple of years ago, and I really liked it. It was great fun to play... and really get into. (At points it was stabbing music... the conductor came up with some interesting ways of conducting that...) Plus it actually had a decent viola part. |

Am I the only one who likes Earth? And yes, Gladiator's and PotC soundtracks sound a bit alike but the are still different. |
