Returning to this era of Porsche Design philosophy is link interesting for a number of reasons. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche actually designed both the watch and the 911. This isn't a watch that pays homage or "is designed in the spirit of" the 911. It's a watch that's designed by the very same person who designed one of the most iconic link sports cars ever. link Then there's the car that it's tied to. |

But in a world where they're selling for almost $40,000, there's a real temptation to lock the GMT-Master II away in a safe and deprive it of link the adventure it was made for. This, I feel, is a horological tragedy. It contributes to the softening of the link watch's ethos, and to the astronomical prices of the hyped-up link speculation market. |
