Luthien rode in on her horse, humming a song merrily. Just then she saw Haldir slump off of her horse. "Oh my goodness! What happened?" She jumped off and ran to her.

"Beloved!" Elenriel cried as she raced toward Legolas as he gingerly dismounted from his horse and staggered against her as she embraced him. "Your wounded." she whispered, her eyes widening in fear as she gazed upon his blood-drenched tunic. "I must take you to a healer." "No." he responded his voice strained. "There are others in greater need than I." Just then an elven healer approached them. "My prince, come with me." he replied and without waiting for a took Legolas from Elenriel and helped him to a healing quarter.

Elenriel watched them depart, her eyes filled with worry. She longed to stay with her husband, to be sure he would be alright, but she knew that she had to wait until the healer tended to him, less she impede his work. Just then she saw Haldir, lifeless on the ground. "Niece!" she cried, rushing over to her and Luthien. "We need a medic now!" she yelled as she gazed at Haldir's wounds.

Luth patted Haldir's cheek. "Ducky, you're not allowed to die! I haven't forgiven you for pouring tea on me yet! Where is a medic when you need one?" *sniffle*

Elenriel looked around, her eyes crazed with fear and sorrow. She knew her husband was severely wounded, though he tried to hide it from her. After all she was the wife of a warrior prince, death was no stranger to her, yet never had it struck so near to her until now. Miraculously she spotted another healer. "Friend!" she yelled, getting her attention. The woman hastily made her way toward them. "We have need of your help." Elenriel replied quietly, motioning to Haldir.

Craig became frantic. He swooped down and threw his arms around Haldir. "No, Haldir..." he sobbed. "Please wake up ... dont leave me here..."

Elenriel looked on sadly, the day taking its toll on her. "Stay with her," she told Craig gently, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "I'm going to check on my husband." She then looked up at the healer. "Please help my niece." she pleaded before slowly walking away.

Craig nodded silently, blinking back tears. He looked at the healer. "Please do the best that you can," he begged her.

Elenriel walked away slowly, tears clouding her vision. First Legolas and now Haldir. I can't lose them, I just can't. she thought desperately. Suddenly a sharp pain tore through her stomach and she sank to the ground. My son! she thought anxiously, knowing that the stress from the past hours started her early contractions. A second wave of pain tore through her, this one more intense than the first. She cried out, knowing that her cries would be muffled by the surrounding chaos. Suddenly, a shadow fell across her and she found herself gazing up at a captain of the Guard. "My princess." he said gently, kneeling beside her smoothing her matted hair. "Hang on, You and your son will be fine, I'm taking you to a healer." With that he scooped her up quickly and took her inside on of the tents.

Craig rushed out of the tent in time to see Elenriel being carried away by a healer. "What's happened to her??" he demanded, rushing up to the Healer. "is she going to be fine?"

Craig looked around in confusion. First Haldir then Elenriel, he thought desperately.

The healer gently set Elenriel down in the tent and left her in the care of the midwife before speaking to Craig. "Her contractions began earlier than expected. No doubt the strain of the past hours has taken its toll on her." he said softly.

Eldarwen and Eragon sat quietly against a tree trying to sort out all that was going on. Eragon looked seeing the healers bring his daughter into a tent. oh no.. he thought. Turning to Eldarwen he spoke softly. "Elenriel is hurt" Eldarwen looked up "what?" Eragon grabbed her hand and walked over to the tent. They walked in slowly. Eldarwen's heart pounded she didnt want to lose her daughter.

Elenriel groaned as another contraction struck. "Breathe." the midwife instructed her. Elenriel turned away, her face drenched in sweat. "Eru, help me..." she whispered, as the midwife dabbed a cold cloth to her forehead. "You're doing fine. When I tell you, start pushing." she instructed, her voice firm.
