Erm ... so coffee is bad for kidney stones? :wary:

Au contraire, mon ami ... coffee contains no oxalates, and actually may help in preventing kidney stones.

Huh? OK, good to know, but then why your two-month hiatus? :erm:

No idea really. I became ill the second week of September, and I just couldn't face the thought of drinking coffee, or tea for that matter. I'm now happily back in the fold. :-D

Forgot to buy more coffee :duh: so I'm back to herbal tea until I get to the store.

I took a sip of coffee at my in-laws the other day... I've officially been spoiled. It tasted like dish water. I'm pretty sure it was Folgers, though. :P This Irish Cream and Highlander Grog coffee has got my taste accustomed to something more refined I think. :P

Well, since I regularly drank coffee from the vending machine in the office (ours at home, despite the smell issues of the freshly bought grounds, is better), so I definitely do not qualify as spoiled. But there have been "coffees" that I ran across in my rather wide-ranging travels ... erm, it's not the Rant Thread, so I'll leave it at "no comment!" :yuck:

The Clinic always bought Folgers - big tin, small price - so I know exactly what you mean, Jax.

I know what you mean, Gando. I really enjoyed my coffee this morning on this frozen, sunny day.

My currently nutty sleep pattern means that when I traipse into our living room, I may occasionally be lucky to get a couple of cups of coffee from our (nominally) 11-cup thermos-style pot which my wife has brewed whithout any input from my side (the normal division of labor is she does the water, I do the grounds; less often, I brew the pot without any input from her. My guess is that we both overrate our respective "skills").

Finishing off my 4th cup of coffee. I guess today is a slow coffee day. :p Had my parents over and we didn’t even finish a single pot!

The "cups indicators" on coffee machines, and the cups one can buy for hot beverages, certainly are not subject to the stringent calibration required of receptacles for beverages alcoholic and non- in restaurants, bars and the like. Our coffee machine has two scales, one for "small cups" (whatever those are supposed to be - our totally basic machine is not espresso-capable) and one for "large cups". LC claims to provide eleven cups. Not with the cups we almost uniformly use, always ends up as ten. Besides the blurred compatibility of coffee machines and cups, our undeniable inaccuracy in filling any one cup (read most of the time: a tad full) exposes the cups indicator on our CM as overly optimistic in our environment. :p
