(not about politics... :-D alltough I didn`t check if any of this was banned but oh...)

okay...I don`t know if this has been made in every country, but in finland we had this show where people could vote who was the greatest country man, My opinion was the greatest and he is Marshall Mannerheim, he was the finnish president for one year when we were in war and he was the highest commander of our forces when we fought the russians. He was the only Marshall we had in finland, so... who was your country`s greatest countryman and was he your favourite? if he wasn`t who should have been and why? (please no stupid names here...)

We don't have anything like that here in Sweden, at least not to my knowledge.

The greatest man in my country (according to me anyways) would be Jonas Gardell - a gay standup comedian/author who has done so many great things and dared to say so many things and is just the funniest man alive!!! His (Finnish!) husband Mark Levengood is also a celebrity here in Sweden and he's just the coolest and funniest too! They have a child together. They're awesome.

Well we had 'Greatest Canadian' here and there was a 'Greatest American' but I don't think it was as popular in the states as 'Greatest Canadian' was here. Tommy Douglas won. He's Canada's "father of Medicare". Good choice, although I also liked:

-Lester B. Pearson who introduced the Canada Pension Plan, national Medicare, the Bilingualism and Biculturalism Commission, a national labour code, and the Maple Leaf flag, and won the Nobel Peace Prize.

-Frederick Banting who discovered insulin and won Canada's first Nobel Prize in Medicine.

-Terry Fox who lost most of his right leg to cancer and ran with a prosthetic leg from the Maratime provinces to Thunder Bay where he died. Ever since then the Terry Fox run has been held in Canada and 59 other countries to raise money for cancer research. So far more than 360 million dollars have been raised.
