Post subject:  Yule Ball '07 - Tree Decorating (23rd)
"Come along now," Kit exclaimed it everyone, going from room to room to courtyard to garden hustling everyone together into the great hall so that the decorating would begin. "We have ten Christmas trees, five on each side of the hall and we would like everyone to decorate the trees together, in their group or by themselves."

Kit gestured to the boxes next to the trees, "There are various different ornaments in boxes, but feel free to trade and mix them! It'd be great to see themed trees like Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and even Pirates!! So dig in, and have fun!!"

At hearing Kit's call PD wized up behind Beckett out of nowhere, grabbed him and raced into the grand room where all the Christmas trees stood. "Oh how fun!" she couldn't help but start bouncing a little as she gazed at all the empty trees. She began looking through one of the boxes with Beckett. "I can't wait for everyone else! Let's do a Pirates tree first, Becky! than we can do a more traditional tree."
"ah, look. Here's a ornament with Jack Sparrow on it." Beckett held it up with a disgusted look on his face.
"we can use it!" PD grabbed it from him and put it on a tree. "after all he IS part of the Pirates." she giggled at the look her husband gave her.

"My" said JF as she walked into the room, "all these trees are wonderful" she said to Norrington, and as she passed a box she added "and such unusual decorations" as she stooped down to take one from a box.

"I would say the likeness is striking wouldn't you dear?" as she held the bauble out to Norrington who let out a gasp of suprise as he looked at a decoration of himself. JF laughed and added "I wonder if anyone will miss this when it's over?".

Freya and Darcy strolled into the room and snagged a tree just in time. Ransacking the boxes, they found, to their delight, a big red bow with four long ribbons coming from it. They put it on the top of the tree, dividing it into four quadrents. "Now, Darcy, how should we do each quadrent?"

Eruraina walked into the room, holding a cup of eggnog.
"Oooo! The tree decorating contest!" she walked over to a bare tree, and looked into a box. Murtagh walked up behind her.

"Let's do red and green for colors, and have dragons for the theme!" She said, pulling out an ornament of a red dragon holding a big diamond, that looked alot like Thorn.

Kit waved her hands all about, "Would anyone like some help? I'm afraid I certainly can't decorate a tree on my own, so I'll be glad to join someone else's!"

"Lets do one together!" Anduril bounded in "Sorry, no one told me we were haveing a Ball this year" she tripped over and a load of tinsel fell out of her Nazgul robes

"Mother!" Rain called, and came over to give her a quick hug before starting to decorate her tree with Murtagh. "Oh, and I think you've met Murtagh, who is now my fiance."

She turned to a box of tree lights, and pulled out a strand of green, a strand of red, and a strand of both that blinked. "These will go nice on my tree."

"Tree decorating? I almost forgot!" Nurrantiel exclaimed as she rushed into the hall. "Hey Mat, how should we do this?"

"Well, at Bel Tine we have some interesting decorations," Mat commented as he bent over a box. "Hey look, horses!"

"Ah yes, you do know all about those. Now come on, let's decorate this tree!" She grabbed a box and started hanging silver and blue bells on it.

Annûniel bounced into the hall and picked the best unclaimed tree that she could find.
"Wow! The lights are untangled!" she exclaimed. Picking up one of the rolls, she attached the end to the top of the tree and started to wind her way around the tree.

Hearing Annuniel's exclamation, Nurr turned to look at her own lights. "Bother. This one's messed up. Oh, but this one's good! Here, help me with this." She handed one end of the lights to Mat while winding the other around the tree.

"Ooh, and garland! How pretty! And some tinsel as well! I love silver so....this is perfect!" She inhaled the aroma of the pine and smiled. "Isn't our tree lovely Mat?"

Finishing with the lights, Annûniel picked out a gold and silver garland and started to wind that around the tree; this time from the bottom up. While she was working, she kept looking at the ornaments in the box. There was a large variety and Annûniel was enjoying choosing which ones she would put on the tree.

Darcy and Freya consulted for a moment then each took two quadrents. Freya, digging around in a convenient box, was extatic to find ornaments of all the members of the Fellowship, plus several other miscellanious Lord of the Rings characters. She hung these in her first quadrent, then intersperced half a dozen small gold balls in the branches.

Meanwhile, Darcy had done his first quadrent in a more traditional way, with popcorn strings and cookie ornaments. Unfortunately, it was also making him hungry, and more food made it's way into his mouth than onto the tree. Freya finally noticed what he was doing and scolded him. Chastised, he moved on to his second quadrent.

This quadrent he decorated with lots of tinsel and glitter ornaments, and a strand of blinking lights. While he was doing his final quadrent, Freya did hers as well. Taking a handful of flour, she tossed it over the quadrent to make it look snowdusted. Then she took a Jadis (the white witch) ornament and placed it near the middle of the quadrent. At the top, near the bow, she positioned an Aslan ornament and ornaments of the four Pevensie children. Other character ornaments she placed around along with some frosted white balls, and then stepped back to look at her compleated tree.

Eruraina and Murtagh wrapped red and green lights in the tree that blinked, and a strand of silver to look like stars. Then they wrapped red and green tinsel around it.

Rain started hanging ornaments of dragons of various colors and sizes on the tree. There were ones sill in the egg that just hatched, full grown ones, old ones with beards. Some held swords, other arrows, others breathed fire, other held gems. Some were in a fighting stance, other sleeping, and some sitting. On especially cute one was a baby blue dragon with it's mouth wide open in a yawn. All the while, Murtagh was putting on the top of the tree a beautiful 10 legged star that glowed maginificantly had had a ruby in the middle in the shape of a rose.

When they were done, they stood back and looked at it. Rain slipped her pale into Murtagh's and said, "beautiful, just beautiful!"

PD waved as each newcomer entered. She and Beckett were coming along beautifully with their tree. "no, no, not like that, Becky! You string the lights like this." she tried to show him, but it was almost hopeless to get the pirate-ship shaped lights around the tree with Beckett's help. she sighed "Becky, why don't you do something else? Like...." she paused in thought. "like, put this on the tree!" she handed him an ornament she had "stolen" from JF's box. It was one that resembled Norrington. Beckett looked at it and "humped".
"might I ask why we haven't put this lovely ornament on the tree yet instead of all these pirate ones?" he held up an classic, glass ornament which resembled the Endeavour.
"don't be silly! that's gonna go on in a special place after we're done doing everything else." she winked at him.

Anduril survayed her empty tree "Hmm, well they say in medicine 'throw the pills at the patient and whatever sticks is the right dosage'" with that she started picking up handfuls of multicoulued tinsel and decorations and throwing them at the tree. Every so often she'd go over and turn her tree slightly so there was a bare canvas.
