^I second the last half of that post.
This must be the most controversial fruit on the planet. I don't know if I've ever seen a thread like this get so many replies in such a short time.

Reindeer, congrats. You have just posted the most random thread that I have ever beheld in the history of random threads.
Many thanks for your congratulations, then, O Violent Fudge Muffin. I feel honoured. And....is it really the most random? Surely in this forum of randomnation, there have been some more random topics? o_O
And wow...I wasn't expecting this many responses so quickly. But I have to say that the results are disappointing. I was hoping that my friends were just weird people and that the majority of civilisation recognised the glorious amazing flavour of grapefruits eaten raw. I guess there's some convincing that is needed to be doing.
Tbh, I used to eat them with sugar, until I decided that it was detracting from the flavour, so now I eat them raw. But....moi is strange. I also eat lemons raw. <_<

Mmm, I love grapefruit! When I was little I used to sprinkle sugar on them, but now I quite like them plain. My mom usually buys organic, and I think they tend to be sweeter. I guess I'm just used to the bitter taste... it dosn't bother me for some reason

I don't think I've ever had a grapefruit, actually. *shrugs* Or if I have, it didn't make that much of an impression on me. I do like other citrus, though.

you're hilarious, JF. and *gasp* your superb mind-reading abilities found a nickname of mine! Is it the pink duckies? do they loathe grapefruit and find out nicknames of people like you do?
p.s. my nickname, really and truly is 'Beans'. I think partially because I like coffee, and partially for no reason a all. in case you were wondering.

Someone feed JF a grapefruit, I want to see her head turn inside out!
*laughs* Oh this thread is making me crack up. I love grapefruit, plain. You know who taught me a different way to eat a grapefruit, though- Kitoky eats them with salt and pepper! I thought that was really strange, but then I tried it, and there's something about them that neutralizes the bitterness and makes the grapefruit quite mellow. You grapefruit-haters should try it!
Whoever suggested putting sections in the freezer, that sounds great, I'll have to try that.

I'm going to have to side with Nurr here and say that really, I don't have a strong opinion either way. I think I like the juice, though. In the faintest recesses of my mind resides the memory of a fondness for grapefruit juice.

Salt and pepper? o_O Would that not serve to dry out the grapefruit? That sounds decidedly...strange. But methinks I might give it a try sometime.

Alright.. I can somewhat understand the salt (well, actually not... but.. oh well...for the sake of sounding understanding!!) but what about the pepper? I mean I've heard of strange things (strange, only to my limited mind, of course ) like chili in chocolate and chocolate in chili con carne stuff like that.. but what good does the pepper to the grapefruit?

I absolutely don't like grapefruits. I tried them once and that was enough for me already

Hmm. Well I must admit that I've never actually had grapefruit. I like just about any other fruit though...so I'll probably give it a try sometime.

I like grapefruits very much for their specific and a bit bitterish taste. And cold grapefruit juice with ice can easily fresh up
