I know I had chosen “Rivendell” as my word, so I’m going to blame it on the Bluetooth rodent for incompletely marking what I had intended to copy and paste (batteries ailing? But it’s not an Apple mouse ... :disgust: )

And no need to thank me. Just call me by my true name, which I am herewith revealing for the first time: The Great Gandolorin! :flex: :sly:

Wethinks ye may be ignorant of the unusual benevolence bestowed upon ye to be in the presence of such overwhelming grandeur, so we deign to enlighten ye about the appropriately submissive greeting called for when entering our grandiose presence: :notworthy:

Nah. Just an attempt to mimic JRRT’s use of supposedly archaic language (something a lot of his philologically infinitely lass capable critics like to whine about). JRRT (and probably son Christopher, and Tom Shippey, too) could have done a much more challenging job of it. But then, we’d probably start getting seriously lost (at the latest) at the stage of Geoffrey Chaucer’s 14th-century English, and with Anglo-Saxon I’m lucky to even recognize more than a few words on a page – and most of those through my knowledge of modern German rather than modern English.

More snow yesterday, no ploughing so far, will have to risk it.

I’m guessing this might be what one of our smaller private TV stations has turned into a show, a term – acronym – called “ScheFaZ” (“Schlechteste Filme aller Zeiten” or worst films of all time). The one I remember was a disastrous attempt to cash in on the early Star Wars hype, called “Starcrash” (1978), starring a young David Hasselhoff. The English Wiki article on Hasselhoff entirely ignores this film (there is an article on the film itself, though), but the German one doesn’t. The film's title had the ominous potential of being a prediction on the further careers of those involved, but at least Hasselhoff may have escaped this ominous portent.

The special effects are atrocious even for the time, the dialogues are insipid and hare-brained (with the potential of inducing a waking coma), the logic a tangled mess, enough loose ends hanging around to weave a huge carpet out of them. But if one manages to avoid falling into that above-mentioned waking coma, the unintended comic effects can lead to a serious rotflmao attack.

On of my cats likes to suck on blankets, buttons, zipper tags, and shirt material. He kneads while he does it.

At least four squirrels showed up during one of my early appearances on our balcony, so I chucked down two handfuls of peanuts onto our lawn / meadow and left them to sort out possession issues among themselves.

Our resident Magpies are taking turns keeping an eye on the back yard for food deliveries from their humans.

I noticed a squirrel sitting on a twig stump last night; it was practically at eye-level with our balcony, with a lighter background providing sufficient contrast so that I was able to notice its silhouette. It then scrambled around the tree-trunk a bit, then I lost sight of it. First time I’ve seen a squirrel here while it was so dark, they are normally not nocturnal (and sunrise was still a few hours away).

Yesterday morning I had a conversation with a Raven over the little plastic takeaway sauce cup of Magpie food that was out on the picnic table in the back yard. He stood on the clothes line and looked at me and clicked away, with a few quiet 'caw's, not quite comfortable going down to the food with me standing there. So he got his courage up, flew down to the table, carefullt picked up thecup in his beak and immeadiately flew of hard and fast over the roof of the neighbor's house. So we are basically distributing these plastic sauce cups around the neighborhood.

I'm sure your neighbours are wholly grateful to have them. :-D
