Larael was very involved in the Family Trees and intented to re-start them but she seems to be very busy with college and hasn't been around for a while now. If a group of you guys could get together and re-organise them that would be awesome.

I believe Eru is the only one of the old line-starters who is still active and interested in continuing so perhaps you guys could start off with this line and then branch out depending on the interest???

Well, I was wondering... if maybe we could still have them all under Arweb, as the founder of the site. And then have Eru's line directly under. And if anyone wants to start other branches other then Eru, they can. They'd be Eru's sister/brother. That way, though we are all under different branches, we're still one big happy family. Because for me it felt like, the different branches almost caused too much separation because you were family with a certain number of people, but couldn't be family with members of other branches.

Or at least that's what it seemed like to me.

But, once we get them started, I would be willing to draw the family trees


Though one quick question. Though we would technically be starting over with the marriages, if I were to claim Cloud again, can I keep my original wedding date? I mean, since I've been married to him for so long... I don't want to have to start over...

^ Well Arwen, me, Herenya and the other matriarchs were sisters in the old family tree. So everyone was still related to one another, just like the idea you proposed.

I would LOVE to be a part of a line. I long for a lord of the rings family.
Maybe someone could create a poll, to help determine how active the family trees would be if recreated.

I would also be interested in the family trees if they were to start up again, it sounds like a fun concept.

It looks like there is a general interest in the family trees so I think we should make an effort to re-create them.
What we need:
1) Someone to keep track of the family relations and draw/post/update the trees
2) Posting the spouses in a seperate thread and set a deadline for re-claiming old spouses. And any spouses that haven't been claimed within that time period would be up for grabs again.
3) A couple of dedicated people to run the trees, like updating them when new people get adopted or marry

Undortunately, I don't have time to be activaly involved in these tasks but I'll be here if you need me for coaching purposes or for practical mod-stuff.

Ok, I wasn't here back when the family tree stuff was going on, so what exactly are they? I went and skimmed over the different tree threads, but I'm still a little confuzzled. What are the different generations of children, and for that matter, what about the person you're married to? Are they just a random character you pick to be married to? Just a little curious about all this.

Umm.. yeah, people would claim a charactor or an actor or even a fellow member from the forum for marriage. Sometimes they would host wedding parties in Misc. Randomness and afterwards they would post "Married Hugh Jackman on 9 November 2011" or something in their sigs. And take their spouse to A-U balls and stuff.

The couple would be added to the family tree and they could start adopting kids (usually other A-U'ers) and so the tree would grow. Of course that takes some organising the family relations to keep track of everyone who marries and adopts and update the tree(s).

The members of the family tree would have a seperate RP thread (I believe we could limit it to one for more interaction) for family interaction and just for general smalltalk. So it became a way of getting to know more people on the forum.

Yes, someone is in charge of drawing the trees and updating them, so ideally we could have a group of 1-3 people or something dedicated to this since they would need to be updated on a regular basis when people join or adopt or marry.

You can see how Larael did the trees in the old threads here - they might be a little confusing to look at so if anyone can make it easier to read, go ahead.

Perhaps there should be a general thread that
1) explained the concept and how the trees work
2) for new sign ups and
3) posting adoptions and marriages

And a thread displaying the updated tree in the first post and where people could roleplay and socialise.


Even if we are going to re-start the trees, we might want to give people who used to be a part of the A-U family a chance to re-claim their spouses like Ennostiel suggested on the previous page. So we might need to put up a temporary thread where people who already claimed spouses can re-claim them.

The trees should be posted in Misc. Randomness and no there is no age limit to participate.. it's all fun and games!
