It has been a fantastic summer for Return of the Rings. Now, as it draws to a close, our eyes turn to Imladris, in the Last Homely House. There, a great outburst of activity has begun--talk of kings and queens and friendship and, of course, dancing. Yes, dear ladies and gents, the time has come for Return of the Rings to go out with a bang: An Elven Ball. In other words, Elrond's throwing a party, and you are the guest of honor!

But before this auspicious and fun-filled event can commence, we need to plan a little first. Please comment and let me know what you think about:

-A starting date. I was thinking tentatively to begin next Saturday, October 22. This gives us some nice symmetry with the Hobbit Party and also gives people some time to plan, but I am open to other suggestions.

-Possible conflict with the Hallowfest. I'm not sure if Hallowfest is a go at the moment, but if it is, would anyone object to the Elven Ball and the Hallowfest going on at the same time?

-Should there be a central plotline? My wonderful and awesome partner-in-crime Amara suggested that the ball could be held in honor of Arwen's pregnancy, meaning it would take place after the wedding of Aragorn and Arwen--and make the royal couple the focus of the ball. Do you like this idea?

Any other suggestions, comments, questions, or what have you are welcome to be posted here and I (or maybe Elenthari) will try to answer them as best as I can. Let's make the Elven Ball the best A-U event yet, guys!

(P.S. One of our loverly mods, would you mind stickying this thread for me? Thank you! :) )

Hey Arabella!
I'm not sure who is in charge for organizing RotR but I wanted to remind you that the Hallowfest is also approaching and the starting date might also be next weekend. The Hallowfest is an annual event and you can read more about it here. Perhaps the RotR/ Elven Ball organization should get in touch with the Hallowfest organization to discuss this? ;)

Yes, I was wondering about that. I wasn't aware if the Hallowfest was actually going to happen or not. I was just put in charge of the Elven Ball rather recently, and I think it was actually supposed to begin earlier in the month of October, but I couldn't get to it until now. I would be more than happy to discuss with the Hallowfest people so we could work something out!

I think it might be easier for people if the Ball was held after the Hallowfest. I like the idea of a November type of Ball, you can either decorate it in a fall theme, or even a winter theme if you want. I know winter doesnt technically start until December, but there's snow on the ground in Nov. sometimes, and its cold, so I think of it as winter.

Any renewed interest in holding the Elven ball in the next few weeks? I'm not sure if you guys usually host a Christmas celebration on the site, but if you do we should probably get the Elven Ball started before the end of November, if we hold it at all.

I'm sure that if people were reminded of it they would come, with everything being put on hold for Hallowfest it probably slipped peoples minds is all.
