Sat around all day writing RP tales and didn't get to the shops for anything to make for dinner.

About 30 years ago, I once managed to read in my (then new) paperback edition of LoTR for 19 straight hours.

We've had cloudless skies for about a week now, which has heated up the building a tad by now. My bedroom was so warm that, after opening the windows wide twice to cool it off (with marginal success), I decided to leaved them tilted open for the entire night to be able to sleep.

The squirrels are showing up on the lawn below our loggia more often, so I'm chucking walnuts and peanuts down for them.

I get great joy hearing my wife laughing.

I love the quiet of the Library before anyone else arrives.

When I'm sitting at my Internet notebook, I'm basically surrounded by our library - five bookshelves with way over 100 books each, the 900 vinyl LPs, my 2008 tower PC which still totally outclasses the notebook hardware-wise (26-inch monitor, active boxes as drivers for a really good set of hi-fi headphones, it's my DVD player), two Canon multi-function printers (OK, the old coot has degenerated into a single function, making copies). Except for the occasions when my wife comes in for a smooch, it's also very quiet.

The resident brushtail possum, likes hanging off the neighbor's clothsline and teasing our dog.

We're expecting another storm tonight and tomorrow with 30 MPH winds and 2" of . Twice those stats up in the local mountains. The most I've recorded on my weather station is 43 MPH and an inch and a half of in one 24 hour period. We've had an amazing Winter and it's moving right on into Spring! Gandolorin, I wish I could send you some ...

Enjoying a day off work. April is full of days off here in Oz. Easter weekend is bookended by days off, and ANZAC Day roves the week on the 25th. If it falls on a weekend in a particular year, no day off. Since it is on a Tuesday this year, I took Monday off for another four day weekend. Today I took off as practice for getting used to four day weeks. Oh yes, May 1 is Labour day, so another day off!

Odd thing about the May 1 Labor day: though it originated in the US in the 19th century, the US may be the only country which celebrates a Labor day NOT to do it on May 1 ...
