Apartment management as per the notice is located in Munich, well over 100 miles south of here. That’s why I’m guessing new a-hole tenants are behind this antisocial crap.

Yeah, it can really be a pain when you have less than stellar neighbours.

Finally phoned the lady from apartment management in Munich who was named as contact on the notice. Questioning her about what is behind it, she said that some tenants, old-timers among them, had complained about a pigeon nuisance or plague since this summer. I pointed out to her that compared to what one can see in the more central parts of our city, the term plague was massively overdone. I pointed out to her that feeding squirrels with walnuts, and even peanuts in shells, does not attract pigeons in any way as they are utterly incapable of making any use of these nuts. And that in winter, feeding birds generally is considered necessary by many environmentalists; some even advocate doing it year-round, as habitat destruction has made in difficult for birds to feed themselves naturally. The decrease of up to 80 of insects in recent years is putting all birds at risk during breeding season, as all depend on the proteins from insects to raise their young, no matter what their usual fare is as adults. So considering the bit about squirrels to be unfounded, I declared that I will continue to do so, as others are continuing to do so visibly from other parts of our apartment complex. She said she could see my point of view on some issues, and would ask the local custodian to have an eye on the situation. So we shall now see if things calm down, but if there are some quarrelsome neighbors who like telling other people what to do it might not be the end of the matter yet. I will certainly take a hard stand against any such people (nothing get me nearly as not-amused as these types do).

We got a new recliner lounge last weekend, and our cat Scooter is just now making peace with the change. He decided that it was rather nice to sleep on as long as the recliner doesn't move.

One of the squirrels has been getting excessively territorial lately, chasing others around and away (though some of the others occasionally get not amused and turn the tables). Has it been bribed by apartment management?

The sun is shining brightly, and I'm working up to taking the dog for a walk.

Was a bit sloppy about reading or regional newspaper last week. Started a catch-up reading on Sunday (skipping things that become outdated by TV news), and have almost finished the weekend paper, so I might catch up to the “present” today.

I was busy: I made borscht, spareribs, freezer-bagged some homemade tomato sauce, made a batch of food for Oscar, and made up some juice.

Some nosy as all hell person who shouldn't be looking over my shoulder at my phone while I'm on my facebook page. I'm just trying to hang at the bar with friends. Nosy creeper dude sees my last name.

Creeper: "Is that French?"

Me: "Yes." *me thinking, 'actually, it's French Acadian,'*

Creeper: "I'm not going to even try pronouncing that."

Me: "Okay," *me thinking, 'you could ask me how it's pronounced, ya know.'*

Creeper: "Why can't you French people pronounce your names the way they're spelled?"

Me: "Whatever dude, **** you."

Another drippy, rainy Saturday where the decision needs to be made to venture into the city for lunch and a beer, or just stay home and relax. Stay home and relax wins.

Me three. And after almost two weeks of sunshine, precipitation is overdue once again. Early in each month, our regional newspaper has an article about the previous month’s “performance” against long-term trends. I don’t remember a single month having been above-average in precipitation, so with groundwater levels having been at record lows in spring, refilling them has probably not made much headway. :-(

As my wife just commented on, I don’t care squat if the top and bottom of my pyjamas are mismatched. :goofy:

Ditto. I more or less treat PJ bottoms and tops as 'separates'.
