The squirrels have returned to the hazelnut trees next door, offering Oscar numerous hours of entertainment.

After a long period of unavailability, one of the supermarkets we frequent has finally stocked walnuts again. So the squirrels are being treated to something else than peanuts again. Interestingly, for generation after generation since we moved here ten years ago, this means lugging the walnuts away to more secluded storage areas (like in the adjacent forest). The peanuts often get buried right in the meadow - though as parched as that is, the squrrels give you an idea where the makers of the "Ice Age" animation series got their hints for the behavior of the secret star of the series, Scrat (who is very choosy about where he buries his acorns!).

Received e-mails from several people who took part in our sort of class reunion last weekend, this time in Franfurt / Main. One of them, starting off on the way south apparently more than an hour later than I did by train, got stuck in a north-western Bavarian city main train station because the storm of Sunday afternoon / evening overtook her train and blocked the rails further south, probably due to crashed trees. I had made it home just one hour before the storm smashed into my city.

Watching potentially useful clouds pass across us without depositing the slightest precipitation is getting me very seriously annoyed!!!

The family car has a cracked windshield all thanks to a tree branch that fell during the 'Nor'easter.

Met someone online earlier last month. We've been texting for two weeks. We're going to try to plan a meetup next month. I'm excited but nervous.

There are enough low-pressure systems out over the Atlantic (and Mediterranean - Italy got drenched recently) with plenty of potential precipitation, it's just that they're constantly managing to pass us by, or pass over without depositing anything here.

One of my fake headstones I had for a Halloween lawn decoration blew away during the Nor'easter we had recently. Never found the thing. Oh well, the second survived at least.
