March was also too warm by over 2°C, and is now the 12th month in a row that has had above-average temperatures (last year's March was a tad on the cool side, but April then "made up" for that by demolishing all heat records for the month). At least we had some useful precipitation, about 10% above average, but since the middle of March nothing (or almost nothing) again, making that three weeks in a row.

Some of the bushes surrounding "our" meadow have started sprouting leaves, though they are anything but full yet. The trees seem to be much more "skeptical", as none have started their leaf production. A couple of the trees that normally sprout blossoms prior to leaves did so haltingly a while back, but both broke that off before reaching anything like full blossoming. Seems we’re in drought time again, as per other indications too.

Challenged by a new feral yard.... challenge accepted.
This place once had a nicely landscaped yard. Rediscovering the nature path walk one brick at a time.

With cloudless skies since before the Easter weekend, our east-facing rooms (kitchen, our "library" for books 'n' LPs and my computers, and my bedroom) are heating up uncomfortably in the mornings again. With my “near-blackout” curtains in my bedroom, the effect is somewhat reduced, but it is getting annoying again – and we’re only in April!

Undewent a second ureteroscopy on my left kidney, ostensibly to laser a piece of the large stone lasered earlier, only to discover that I had already passed the fragment.

That pretty much sums up my life at the moment.

I've become a bit of a Solitaire junkie (the stuff Microsoft has installed by default on my notebook).

Sometimes wild animals invite themselves in to the house.

Having a new mouse with a functioning scroll wheel sure does make many things easier. :-D

This year's generation of squirrels still has to get used to the concept of nuts dropping onto the lawn "out of ths sky". :-D

We have a resident squatter possum that as evicted along with two of his friends. One has made a home in the palm tree in the back yard, and another I'm not sure where it went, but we have one big one who has been persistant. He once noight came into the house through the chimney, and another night he found the cat door. The first time we had to get the possum whispereer to trap him where he took up residence in Kaz's clothes. The second time I was alerted early enough to spoook him under the table and used a series of floded moving boxes to wall him off and coax him out the open door. Today I found him sleeping in the tool shed. I'm sure he will be stomping all over the rook shortly after dark.

The meadow to be seen from our balcony got its first mow of the year (and the first time in four mows that sending the mowing tractor across it made any sense - the last three times last year, there really wasn't anything to mow). But they gave the section - almost half - where the mole(s) had been massively at work a wide berth, even though the molehills have flattened out quite a bit due to the useful rain we've had since the Easter weekend..

I suffered a work related head injury about a month ago, I'm still having to fight the matter and the extremely careless co worker that caused my injury is not in any trouble at all, but he blames me for my injury. I lost time at work and had to put my life on hold for days, not even knowing if I'd make a full recovery. Yet he could walk around with his freedom and I had to suffer.
