While my parents and I lived in India, when I was a child, I had an absolute horror of spicy food! That only changed about ten years later when I was in college in the US.

When I lived in New Zealand, I taught myself to swim by traversing the pond that was on the farm, much to my mother's horror since I was alone. When she said: "You could have drown!" I replied: "But I can swim!"
Ah, the lovely innocence of childhood ..... it's surprising I made it to adulthood.

When I lived in the high mountains of Washington State, I walked across Lake Easton on ice even though it was making these 'starwars' blaster sounding pings and twangs as I went.

I always hated snakes until one of my cats started bringing them into the house for me to remove. I finally got up the nerve to pick one up, and was totally surprised by how cool it was.

The first musical pieces I can remember hearing to this day (and own most of them by now), long before I started collecting records on my own, was what my dad played in the early to middle sixties in India: some stuff by Duke Ellington / Johnny Hodges / Coleman Hawkins, Herbie Mann, Dave Brubeck, and the 1938 Carnegie Hall concert by Benny Goodman (probably Louis Armstrong too).

If I was going to waist money on buying something expensive (assuming it was under $1000) it would most likely be spent on extremely yummy food.

I love a nice, sharp cheddar so much that one of my boyfriends used to give me cheese as a gift instead of flowers and chocolates.

OOohh... Cheese.... I love cheese! I found some lovely Tasmanian Cheddar at the deli the other day! My 'go-to' cheese is Nimbin Elbow style cheese. It costs a bomb at the local grocery though, but am glad the IGA started carrying it for 2 bucks less now! Mmmm....Cheese.... Have to add that some of the best cheese I had was gotten at The Cheese Box in Lake Geneva Wisconsin.

I don't know what the price of cheese is like Down Under but it's criminal here. Mind you, that doesn't stop me.
I'm very fond of a sharp Lancashire cheddar, or a lovely old Balderson's cheddar.

The 'bomb' I mentioned in my last post is $10AU for 500g. The IGA was always $2 cheaper for it, but quit carrying it for several months. They got it back again and it's still $2 cheaper than the local Cole's Grocery.

I have liked reading at night for as long as I can remember - when all others are asleep, I don't get interrupted (which can be very annoying when the book I'm reading needs me to concentrate).  _________________

I read before I go to sleep and, not infrequently, fall asleep with the book on my chest. After which, I awake with a start, and turn off the lamp.
