I used to read in bed and do what ES does, but haven't read in bed in a long time. Usually I read in my chair in the lounge room now, and occasionally fall asleep.

All of the sports I have played seriously / regularly have involved rackets. Table tennis was the first one, and the one I played competitively (though in fairly low leagues) for 20 years. My first contact with tennis was also more than 50 years ago, which I have played casually. Squash then followed more than 30 years ago, which I played semi-competitively (the odd tournament for non-competitive players). Badminton has been the one I played most irregularly.

Badminton ..... I haven't seen that played in a long time. We used to play it all summer when I was a kid.

When I find authors whose writing catches my attention (often not finding them on my own, but being pointed towards them by others), I often go on the prowl to try and purchase all of their available books, including older books than the one that caught my attention – JRRT is just the most extreme example of this habit.
