Well...
How about...
"You can't fight city hall"?
City hall is usually considered a building. And buildings don't move...
"A stitch in time saves nine"
Well, I don't know how adding a stitch to something you're sewing could save nine people, but, hey, whatever floats your boat...

"an apple a day keeps the doctor away"
well unless you are taking the apples and throwing them at the doctor, I don't really think it helps that much...

*Lol* I think that one means that if you sew something up after it comes apart quickly, then it will stop it from getting worse, so you won't have to use nine stitches, you'll just have to use one.

Well it keeps you healthy and if you're healthy you don't need to go to the doctor... but that's a good idea though!

There's a few I've heard of...
"Wouldn't touch him with a bargepole" Who's got a bargepole to touch him with in the first place?
"He's as happy as Larry" Who's this Larry we can compare ourselves to, he's that happy?
"Snug as a bug in a rug" It would have to be an extremely small rug or an extremely large bug for it to be snug...
"Hot as a cat on a hot tin roof" ?!
There's more, but I can't remember them all

Quote: "Raining cats and dogs." That could get kind of messy, don't you think? All those cats and dogs dropping from the sky not only would be weird but after they make impact with the ground..... it wouldn't be pretty. this also came from the mideival times when there were thatched roofs, the cats adn dogs would sleep up there, but when it rained it would be too slick, and the cats adn dogs would come tumbling down
