I have never ground my own coffee, but I keep hearing how it is so much better than the grounds you just throw in the coffee maker. Someone told me the other day that it can actually be cheaper too... so I decided it was worth a try! lol

IMHO, you can't beat freshly ground. I'll await your review.

Long ago, 1960s (and probably early ones at that). All of my relatives bought whole beans and had manual coffee grinders (without hedgehogs ) at home. I actually volunteered to do the grinding almost every time we were there (on vacation). The smell of that freshly-ground coffee - *sigh*. Compared to that, the pre-ground powder (for filter coffee) nowadays simply stinks.

My Opa had a manual grinder that was attached to the side of a cupboard. I used to love grinding the beans when I was young. It had wonderful hand painted flowers on it. He bought on one of his many trips to Germany.

Well, judging by what you guys (and everyone else who talks about it) is saying, I should have a pleasant experience. My mom had a coffee grinder in her second hand shop, but she forgot to bring it home for me. I am going to have to wait until I get a little more money in the bank before I order the beans anyways. lol

Just bought two pounds of my favourite coffee. They were out at my usual brand at the grocery store, so I had to substitute with some awful brand until the finally restocked it.
Still sipping on my morning brew as I type this post.

Switched brands of coffee again during our most recent buying spree. My wife ist still hoping that once the "use until" 2019 batch of coffee gives way to the "use until" 2020, things will get better.

Ordered more Swiss-Chocolate Coffee (Choffee) to be delivered this coming week. Was good to get a key of the BlackStar Revolution Espresso again though.

While making today's pot of coffee, my wife (as she is occasionally prone to do) "usurped" my "traditional chore" of dosing the coffee powder with the special spoon that came with our coffee machine. As she currently sleeps longer than I do, I can get my "revenge" by dosing the water, which is her "traditional chore", before she wakes up. Last time she "caught" me at "trespassing" on her "traditional chore" when waking up unexpectedly early (a highly relative term), she used a small ladle to extract what she considered the excess water that I had poured in. But then she does that when she does the water dosing herself, apparently the water level display is a bit sluggish at reaching the "true" reading. Ah, the little quirks of married life, especially since I retired a bit less that one-and-a-half years ago!

I almost bought a bag of whole beans yesterday, but decided against it. The local stuff probably isn’t as good and there is some Highlander Grog on Amazon I really want to try. Next time I make an amazon order with enough to get free shipping.

We made coffee rather late in the afternoon, and thus decided on a reduced pot (about three quarters of capacity).
