Well, I had family over and we went theough 3 pots of coffee with 7 adults. In the defense of my guests, they were an hour late... so the first 12 cups was gone before they got here!

Descaled our coffee machine again a couple of days ago. Does make sense in preventing it from becoming wrecked by calcium (limestone?) deposits on the metal heating elements, but as long as the first sniff at a freshly opened packet of ground coffee elicits close to a "yuck!" reaction, does it really make any significant difference?

We're still floundering around when we buy our coffee, and switched to the other supermarket's brand in our "shopping mall", as my wife is of the opinion that their coffee powder smells "less vile" than the other supermarket's - how far have our expectations deteriorated! |

Well, I finally got my whole beans. Irish cream, and a bag of Highlander grog. Dang good coffe, but even better when you mix them half and half! |

Ah. It was Colombian Gold for us in Seattle in 1975. Put some Colombian Black Gold Coffee Beans in the espresso machine this morning. Later when we're done with coffee, I'm going to give the machine an overhaul, oil up the gears and clean it out, and run the descaling cycle. |

My wife noticed that next week, one of the coffee brands we have used will be on sale at one of our two reguarly-visited supermarkets. If the smell of the coffee powder is yuck, at least we can try to pay less for it. |
