How come we don't have a thread dedicated entirely to Colin Firth???
And I'm not even a hardcore Firth-fan (*cough* okay maybe a little bit... little, tiny, huge bit... :teehee:)
I was so annoyed with him in Pride & Prejudice - for his stone-faced arrogance, and in Bridget Jones' Diary as well - for his arrogant attitude, and yet I couldn't help watch him in Hope Springs when it was on tonight... and even though I was about to commit suicide with a pillow several times during the movie I stood it out because of.... Colin Firth and his adorable British accent.
Now tell me, did I just admit fan(atics) tendencies here..? :-)

The best Colin Firth film has got to be The Importance of Being Ernest. :teehee:

He was also the only thing that made that atrocious new St Trinians (well I say new, they based it on the Bells of St Trinians which is a classic) bearable because of the mickey taking they do of Mr Darcy... Seriously, only watch that film for Colin Firth's performace, for proper St Trinians watch the Bells, Blue Murder, the Pure Hell and the Great Train Robbery..

I haven't seen him in any of those movies. Does he play a main part in them? I might go for them next then! :-)

Please do not remind me about The Importance Of Being Earnest. The only film that left me physically and emotionally drained (and not in a good way) and with a headache (although that could have been because I repeatedly hit myself with a frying pan, whilst trying to beat the memory out of my brain).

That and P&P is all I have seen of Mr. Firth, so to day I do have a somewhat biased mind, is probably accurate. I don't dislike him, but in what I have seen, he hasn't impressed me as being worthy of my drooling over him and his talent. ;)

Who talks about talent... and about drooling??? :teehee:
I am talking about how he annoyed the heck out of me in P&P all stone-faced and later in his Darcy-iteration in Bridget Jones' Diary... But then I realised there was something that made me sit through a whole under-average movie just to let me be annoyed with him... Propably because his adorable British accent, but that couldn't convince you since you hear it every day!! :-)

That is very true. I don't believe his accent is anything special to me, as I hear similar accents on TV all the time. :teehee:

Although I never watched Bridget Jones completely, often just passages I must say that I really enjoyed Colin Firth's performance. I liked him much better than Hugh Grant :)

I liked him even better in Love Actually, when he falls in love with his Portugese housekeeper. Those scenes are so sweet :) I think that Firth has a very natural way of acting.. and I of course like his accent :teehee:
