I watch any movies with Adrien Brody, Johnny Depp, Shawnee Smith and Cary Elwes.

I really don't like watching movies with Kevin Bacon.

Actors/Actresses that turn me onto a film/work:

Sean Bean - No surprise to anyone I'm sure. I have honestly liked his work since I was young. I think maybe about 6 years old. Sean really does fantastic character work. As a fellow performer, I would love to hear about his process. One of things I love about watching Sean work is the fact that everything you need to know about what he/his character is thinking is in his eyes. It's beautiful to watch. The scene in The Hitcher when Sophia Bush has the gun to his head in the big rig. *shivers* It's all there in his eyes...
(Fav Role: ALL of them)

Alan Rickman - Another man who does absolutely amazing character work and is simply wonderful to watch. He has made me laugh, cry, shake my fist... He's awesome.
(Fav Role: Severus Snape or Alexander Dane... Though I loved Metatron too)

Kate Beckinsale - There is something about Kate that I cannot quite put into words. I find her to excel in roles she has gotten that I have seen. I am often baffled that she hasn't worked more.
(Fav role: Selene or Donna Newman)

Gideon Emery - I will forever know Gid as the sky-pirate who stole my heart in Final Fantasy XII. He mostly works as a voice-actor, but I have seen quite a bit of his film work and he is equally as wonderful. Having actually met him and talked to him a few times I can say he is a wonderful man too. I got sent a Christmas present from his a few years back and I hold onto it dearly. I am so happy that he is getting noticed more by US audiences as Deucalion in Teen Wolf.
(Fav (Film/TV) Role: Donovan Shepherd)

Jeremy Renner - Another man whose process I would be very interested in hearing. Jeremy does well in everything I have seen him in. He always seems very down-to-earth with his character portrayals and I appreciate it greatly.
(Fav Role: Sergeant First Class William James)

Steve Valentine - This man... is such a wonderful human being. I have talked with and met him quite a few times. He has made me go all over the place with my emotions. He really invests in everything he does acting, magic, anything.
(Fav Role: Alistair or Nigel Townsend; Derek Jupiter has brightened my days though)

Jennifer Lawrence - She makes me feel like a failure since she is a year older than I am and has already made it big in the industry I am, or rather, will get into. She is an awesome woman and she works really hard. J-Law is awesome.
(Fav Role: Mystique)

Actors/Actresses that turn me off:

Kristen Stewart - I don't understand how she got so big. I mean seriously? I think I have seen maybe two emotions out of her.

Megan Fox - Everything has already been said by others.

Robert Pattinson - I guess he did okay as Cedric but I really haven't seen anything I can say I have honestly liked him in. Plus I just hate Twilight. Basically everyone in that film lost my respect. Though most of it was because the material used to make the film was a waste of paper anyway. Therefore they made a film that was a waste of film, imo.

Kirsten Dunst - Ditto to what Raivynn Phoenix said.

I knew I shouldn't have returned to this thread to read all the previous comments, but I just did and well, I've got one thing to say.

While I don't particularly like Megan Fox, I am absolutely disgusted - and I am NOT afraid to say that - over some of the things said about her in this thread. Disgusted.

You do realize that she was literally sexually harrassed during the filming of the Transformers movies by the DIRECTOR and told to do everything sexier, if she didn't do it sexy enough she'd get yelled at. And she has come straight out and said that's been her entire career. Hollywood has treated her like a sex object and made it clear: be sexy or get out and crawl under a rock! Maybe she is a good actress, maybe not. I don't even care. I'm disgusted by people supporting the stupid stereotype that a celebrity with a pretty face and good body who works with that is some sort of STD ridden *beep* who WANTS to be sexualized in EVERYTHING they do.

Dislike someone's acting, dislike their style, believe they're not talented and avoid their movies. I don't care. But don't shame someone for something they've been manipulated and forced into doing without at least taking two seconds to see if it's true or not. Especially if you haven't seen interviews and whatnot with them and can judge them by their personalities.

I agree, I mean it's a free country to dislike who ever you want but some of the comments are out of line. I had heard that too about Megan Fox, I am in no way saying she is a saint in real life or anything because I don't know her personally, that's why I try to stay away from dissing people majorly. Though I am not perfect at it yet.

Can't think of all of them but here are a few I like and don't care for.

David A.R. White. Has a great array of films out and he also produces and directs now too.
Sean Bean is an excellent actor from the films I have seen him in.
Yannick Bisson is really good also.

Ones I don't care for.
Will Farrell I'm sorry but the guy just drives me crazy. He's just weird.
Jack Nicholson Agree with everyone else.

I know there are more and I will update when I think of them.

Captain Boromir: Exactly. There's one thing to just not like the work of some people, fine, whatever. Everyone's entitled to that opinion. There's another to slam and spread rumors and call people names or judge them for things they know nothing about.

* * *

Atm I'm game for anything with Sam Rockwell, Liam Neeson, Harrison Ford and Daniel Craig.

Turn offs: Angelina Jolie and Jack Nicholson. Don't know why, just not my cup of tea.

I like to watch anything that anyone from the Downton Abbey cast is in, and currently I have a strong love for Aidan Turner.

Even though most of the movies/ T.V. shows that Jamie Campbell Bower has been in have been pretty bad (see Camelot and The Mortal Instruments) I still do love him.

And Kaya Scodelario is great as well.

And Maggie Smith :D. There's probably tons more, but I'm stopping myself at that.

I don't really have anyone in particular that I can't stand... I mean... maybe Taylor Lautner, I don't think that he can act, really. (Sorry... :erm: )

I always loved the rolls I have seen Liam Nesson play in. I have not seen all his movies by any means but the ones I have seen I always like his roll.

I never cared much for nicolas cage... Inprobably would avoid a movie I saw him in.

Yeah I have to agree with you on Cage. I mean I like some of the movies he is in like the National Treasure movies and Left Behind, but it always seems like he doesn't have much acting diversity, the characters always seem to be similar in manner and overall character. I heard at one time he was actually looked at as possibly playing Aragorn but he turned it down. I don't want to sound mean but, Thank God he didn't do it, I think he would have ruined that character. I mean could you imagine Nicolas Cage as King of Gondor? :roflmao:

Yes! I heard that... O_@. I am SOOo glad he turned it down. It would be a totally different movie and I don't think I would like it at all.

National treasure was ok. But yeah, he seems to play the same in all his rolls.

Now if you want an a tor that has diversity, Richard Dean Anderson could play some diverse rolls. From McGyver to Jack O'Neil on stargate SG 1 are almost pollar opposites.

I haven't seen McGyver in a long time but I remember it being really good. Have never seen SG 1, though I have heard of it.

Basically in SG 1. He plays a colonel in the military who is kind of cocky, sarcastic and mouthy, loves guns and blowing things up, and doesnt like other people all that much. Of course his character developes a lot over the years but that is how he starts out.

Megan Fox. Okay, it's not just her; it's actresses like her but she in particular stands out. Girls who cannot act but somehow still manage to land acting roles because they look pwetty. Folks, if you want to look at hot girls, there's pornography. It's on the Internet. Watch that instead. You don't have to waste time, money, or film on these people. Somewhere out there, there's a starving actress waiting tables with talent but she never gets cast because these fleshwastes are getting all the roles.

That was harsh. First of all, there is a BIG difference between a beautiful woman who can't act so well and pornography. The fact that you don't know the difference say a lot. As far as Megan Fox, well, she does a respectable job as April O'Neil in the re-booted TNMT franchise (though I'll always thing of Paige Turco as April), but then the bar for acting is set a bit lower there.

So on with this thread....

Who turns me away from a film? Top 3:
1. Tom Cruise
2. Adam Sandler
3. Liv Tyler

Who draws me in? Top 3
1. Dustin Hoffman
2. Julia Roberts
3. Jack Nicholson

Definitely would on Adam Sandler and Liv Tyler as well. I've never cared a bunch for Cruise but I do enjoy the mission impossible movies simply for the spy element.

I wasn't able to get into the Impossible movie franchise due to Cruise.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who say the same thing. Generally if it has the spy/secret agent element I'm bound to like it.

My wife thinks it's weird but most of the time (Most mind you) I actually don't look at many actors and actresses as themselves.... I see the person in the movie as the character they play.

For example, being a huge star wars fan I always LOVED Liam Nesson as Qui-Gon. When I saw the newer Batman begins movie, however... I didn't see Liam Nesson or even "Qui-Gon" I saw Raz Algoul.

There are a few actors or actresses (usually the ones I don't like) who I can't seem to separate from their real identity, though.

Yeah I have to separate them as well at times. When I was really young and saw The Three Muskateers with Chris O'Donnell and Keifer Sutherland I really liked the character played by Charlie Sheen. A total contrast to how he really is.
