Just learned that Carrie Fisher has passed on today following her heart attack several days ago. What terrible news. :'( May her highness rest in peace...

Yes, I heard about that as well. :( Very sad to hear. I'm glad she got to re-visit star wars before she left but certainly would have been nice to see her stick around longer. :(

Yes.... Was just watching her on the 'Graham Norton' show and 'The Last Leg with Adam Hills' show as she made her book appearance rounds through the UK.
She was having fun on Adam Hills show.... singing in helium voices and such. Rest in Peace Carrie, and Rest in Peace with her Debbie Reynolds, her mother who died a day later.

Really?? I had not heard about her mother! A day later... man that's got to be rough for the relatives... :(

Yeah, I feel for Todd who lost his sister and mother in two days, and her daughter Billie Lourd who lost her mother and grandmother in two days.

Indeed... :( That would be very hard to cope with.

A beautiful tribute to Carrie Fisher

Seems like a good tribute. Can't say I ever knew just a ton about her as an actress but glad people are remembering her fondly.

I cried like crazy. I spent all of Christmas just crying whenever I got a moment away from the family. Then when I was back at my apartment I cried myself to sleep for months. She was someone who inspired me so much in life, on so many levels, and the world will never be the same without her. I've yet to be able to watch Star Wars again and I don't know if I can deal with the next movie, knowing she will be in it, but not in the last. I still cry about it sometimes.

I can’t say that I know much, if anything about what she did in films or whatever besides Star Wars (I may know more about what her mother Debbie Reynolds did). But there is a closer-to-home, more personal small detail: she was born in the same year as my wife and I were born … :confuzzled:

After seeing The Last Jedi, why do I get this feeling that they are going to CGI Carrie Fisher as Leia into infinity?
Rian missed a colden opportunity to memorialise her in that last battle scene. It may just be me, but I think a great opportunity was missed with just a slight tweak of the screenplay.

I was kind of concerned about that as well. Seeing as how they didn't have anything that would even hint at Leia not being there in the next one.

I guess they could always add something into the next one that explains how she died between the two movies... *Shrugs*

As for the golden opportunity, I would have been happy to see that as well. At the same time I think it kind of softened the blow, by the fans not having to watch her die... Knowing that Carrie did indeed. :/

Either way, I would be ok with it as long as they don't overdo any CGI. If they did a short few scenes of CGI in eppisode 9, just to show her death (some sort of epic self sacrifice like vice admiral Holdo)

There will be no CGI Leia, nor stock-footage to allow her to appear in new scenes in the last SW movie.
