I am! I loved him in Casablanca, The Maltese Falcon, To Have and Have Not, The Big Sleep, etc.

I watch a lot of classic movies, if you couldn't tell. ;)

You do? Great! I watch an awful lot of 1930's and 1940's films and Humphrey Bogart is one of my favourites! I loved him in African Queen and he rightly deserved his Oscar.

Yep, I agree! Altough he was only nominated three times, and only won once out of the three. :annoyed2:

When you think about it he didn't reign as a star for very long. Probably about 16-17 years which is a shame. Still, I'm pleased his marriage to Lauren Bacall was a happy one even until the end, as I'm sure at the time people thought it would be a recipe for disaster.

He's amazing! I've only seen a few of his movies - and Casablanca is such a classic! Old movies really show good acting.

Humphrey Bogart is really one of those legendary actors that stands the test of time!

Most actors back in those days were all theatrically trained before going into the film industry whereas nowadays you could be coming from the street and basically become an actor or actress. Back then all actors were incredibly talanted. Nowadays you only have a few really really incredibly talanted actors and actresses but most are just pretty much 'blah' or mediocre.

You really speak the truth there. All you have to have is a pretty face these days to become an actor although there are a lot of good quailty "character" actors. Humphrey is one of my favourites of all time. I can't think of a bad role he has played.

Yeah! I watch The Big Sleep & To Have and Have Not fairly regularly, and Casablanca is on my 'Best Movie of All Time' list.
A couple movies of Bogey's I recommend is his last one 'The Harder They Fall' and an early one called 'Bullets or Ballots' where he plays the bad guy vs Edward G Robinson's good guy.

One of my absolute favorites is one of Bogey’s last movies, the 1955 Christmas comedy “We're No Angels”, with Aldo Ray and Peter Ustinov as the other two escaped convicts. Has some nice dark humor touches, mostly involving Albert's (Aldo Ray) pet viper, Adolphe.
