In the distance, on the sea,
a sun that shines so desperately.
It holds the last bright rays of light,
a struggle to restrain the night.
Lingers hope, while sun still shines
but moon that comes and undermines.
Doubt slips in, and it takes hold,
while the stars grow gently bold.
Travelers view the darkness true
without a hint of envy.

Thunder falls, and lightning booms
rain is slanting and shadows loom.
Above the ocean, swelling waves
come crashing down upon the brave
Those who dare to tempt its might
and who did not escape in flight.

Hope it brings, this love, like light,
Darkened pain, it matches night.
The traveler sings of memoried tale,
while envy sweeps like tattered sails
