Post subject:  Goodbye My Brother(An un-told tale of the War of the Ring)

(Spur of the moment story, i was just thinking about this little idea flitting around my head and this is what i got.)

CHAPTER ONE

Eren swung her horse around, slowing him to a trot. Edoras was far in the distance, the roof of the Golden Hall shimmering like new melted gold. She saw tiny figures going up and down the stairs, exiting and entering the Hall. The shrill whinny of horses we're faint on the wind. She patted her horse, Nama, on the neck.

"Good boy, we're almost there." She said as he nickered exhaustedly and continued to move forward, his pace faltering once or twice.

Soon, they had reached the gates of her city. Two guards opened the doors, and let her through. Eren dismounted and led her horse to one of the nicest stables. The King had granted her a stall.

Eren had short brown hair, hints of blonde could be seen as it blew in the wind. Her eyes were a piercing grey, with flecks of green through out. Eren was 5'4, and a royal messenger. She went all over Middle Earth, giving messages to people in Gondor, Dale, the Shire, other places in Rohan and sometimes to the Elves, although it was rare and often did not happen.

She had just finished giving a message to the men in far off Lake-Town, she had passed through a small bit of Mirkwood to save some time. She had seen glints of silver and white in the forest, she knew right away that they were the Elves of Mirkwood, watching her passage, although they didn't disrupt her.

Her message was more of a greeting than anything of great importance. Nama had been her father's horse, but he was returned to her when her father had died at Helm's Deep. Nama was grey, with patched of white on his forehead, he had three white socks and one black one. His mane and tail were a pale shade of gold, he had dark brown eyes and intelligent looking ears.

She patted Nama on the head, unsaddling him and taking the bridle off of his head, replacing it with a simple yet beautiful halter. He whinnied weakly, bringing a smile to her face. She gave him a pail of water, and lots of food. She spread a simple Rohirric blanket over his back, then trotted quickly out of the stables.

The reply to her King's greeting was tucked safely in her tunic, and it was memorized if the message was lost or damaged. Her short sword banged against her thigh as she ran up the hill. It was a simple sword, with a horse's head on the pommel, and a simple scabbard with a styalised picture of the rings of Minas Tirith. It had been a gift from her brother.

She entered the Golden Hall and strode up to the King's throne. He watched her as she bowed deeply, and waited for his command. Eowyn entered, watching Eren with slight distrust and loathing.

"Please Eren, tell me what the men of the Long Lake have to say." Theoden said, his voice was soft. Eren nodded and recited her message, the King nodding his head at the news about the Orcs and Goblins, roaming and heading East.

Once Eren was finished she left the Hall at her Lord's bidding. She went to her home, and changed into a fresh suit of clothes. She wore a simple grey cloak, a deep green tunic and a pair of burgundy breeches, with a pair of thin black leggings underneath, to keep the chill off of her legs.
Eren was

Eren was heading back up to the stables, with a book in her hand, when she bumped into a dark stranger.

"I'm sorry my lord." She said and swerved around him, brushing him slightly. The man grabbed her arm and she froze.

"You're Eren, aren't you?" Eren nodded and looked up at him. He too had grey eyes, but his hair was dark, with flecks of grey through out.

"Yes my lord, I am." Eren's voice was quiet, her face turned down. She wasn't normally shy, but this man scared her.

"Will you be riding with us to Minas Tirith?"

I really like that, Dark!!! I like the name you used as well. Very reminiscent of Rohan names. It's interesting and it makes me want to know what will happen next. Having her as a messenger is a really cool idea too. Great writing!!!! Are you going to write any more?

um... do you mean she took the bridle off and put on a halter? They did have halters in ME... I'm pretty sure! Sorry... when it comes to horses I can get a little touchy...
