Caged Heart

I've caged my heart
so it won't break free
Because God's love
Is enough for me.

Once upon a time these four simple lines were very true for me. Not anymore, though, because you could say I have fallen in love.

Far Away

How can you not hear my silent cries
while I sit here lonely waiting to die.
You said you loved me
But I can see
That now it is all just a lie.

I sit waiting to die and armagedeon to call
While the trees around me now grow tall
Always crying alone
In the sorrow I've sewn
It's those I loved that allowed me to fall

If only I was stronger and able to fight
Then all that I fought for wouldn't have left my sight
I've fallen so far
Along this boulevard
If only my outstretched hand could reach the light

There is hope in tomorrow, I wish I could say
But shadows cover all of today
Darkness binds me
Though you are the key
To bringing light to my darkened day

Yet darkness blinds me so I can't see
I can't find you in the sombre sea
So far away
You seem to stay
I wish at least your light could catch me

My mind is lost and my body broken
Your lies uncovered may be the token
Bring me back
Don't attack
I'm bleeding from all the blows I've taken

Written over the course of a few years. Not inspired by true events, in fact personally I don't relate to this poem very well. It was left alone for several years, but recently I have managed to finish it. What follows is the continuation of this poem.

Weak I crumple unable to go on
All strength I had is now completely gone
Alone in darkness
I feel heartless
Giving up hope, knowing there will be no dawn

Yet before the darkness takes me completely
I feel a hand on my shoulder, weary
Dare I see
Who touches me
I fear it will be you standing there humbly

A gentle word is then what I hear
You put me here yet it's honey to my ears
Please stop it
My stomach's a pit
Nothing you say can cease my endless tears.

Yet a sincere apology escapes your lips
I feel the sorrowful shake in your grip
You're sorry
I worry
That this may be just another of your tricks.

You wrap your arms around me tight
I have no strength left to against you fight
No longer alone
As you atone
With your touch I can see the light.

Wonderful Daddy

Didn't know what to get you this Christmas time,
So you'll have to settle with this lousy rhyme.
Times are tough, days are hard,
And I know I'm no bard.
But nothing ought, old or new,
Can express how much I love you.
We have a bond that cannot be severed,
For I love you now and forever.
You're my rock, my solid ground,
The one of whom I am proud.
You, I can always count on,
And you offer a place I belong.
On your strength I rely,
As well as your words, humble and wise.
Your embrace comforts, your voice calms,
Your work provides, your calloused palms.
You work so hard with hardly a break,
All for my and Cody's sake.
You've given us everything,
You've earned your wings.
My teacher, my guardian angel,
Who picked me up when I fell.
You've taught me about Christ,
And how His love cannot be priced.
I have learned that hard work is satisfying,
And to never give up without trying.
You've shown me how to respect,
To not make promises that cannot be kept.
That life is more than what is seen,
And to be all that I can be.
I know this poem has been sappy,
But I think it made you happy.
And at the end of the day,
There is only one thing to say.
I know God has blessed me,
With a most wonderful Daddy!

As you can probably tell through the poem, it was a Christmas present to my dad. Christmas morning, before opening presents, I read this poem to my dad out loud. He started tearing up and crying.

Blanket of Diamonds

A thousand diamonds falling down,
Making their path to the ground.
And when they finally hit the earth,
The diamonds show their true worth.

Sparkling bright in twilight sun,
To each other now they clung.
A white wave on solid ground,
Growing taller without a sound.

In the night a cold wind blows,
Not knowing what is sews.
And in the morning it is done,
A white blanket lay in the sun.

A blanket not to keep you warm,
But one that is easily torn.
It may stay throughout the day,
But in the warmth it fades away.

Where Spring sun ends the white
Winter will bring it back to life.
That cold blanket as you know,
Is the chill of winter snow.

Blood Moon

A starless night,
An angle's demise.

A battle lost,
All hope tossed.

The valley of doom,
Soon full of goons.

Evil prevails,
Not what prophecy tells.

Good combined
Will tell in time

Of the battle to pass,
How long will it last?

Moon will be full,
Full of souls.

Red like fire,
Blood of liars.

Gone not fast,
How long will it last?

The sky is dark,
So we must hark.

To find the one,
and bring back the sun.

Bring evil's demise,
And banish the lies.

To be gone forever,
And come back never.

With our battle cries,
The blood moon dies.

Is there a story behind this one? Hard to say for certain, but it seems like there should be. Don't you agree?

Live Laugh Love Dream

Live like you'll die tomorrow
Because that might just be true.
Your friends might be filled with sorrow
Because you never lived your life through.

Laugh like there's no sadness,
Because a smile is so beautiful,
Because a laughter is a glorious madness
That heals the broken soul.

Love like it will never hurt,
Because life is too fragile to throw away
And a heart isn't full of dirt,
But something to help enjoy the day.

Dream like you'll live forever,
Because dreaming is what you do
When you can't face reality's endeavors,
When you don't let reality rule you.

Live love laugh dream
That's what you should do
When life is just a dull gleam
And you need a light in the gloom.

I actually wrote this for a school project. But I rather like it.

I dream forever
of days to come
bonds to be severed
and tunes I will hum

I dream always
of days long past
what history says
and moments that didn't last

of days that are now
where I belong
and what I now vowe.

I dream in a world
that no one else can see
in a reality twirled
into fantasy

I dream of unicorn, pheonix, and dragon
of lands never seen
of bards with flagons
and adventures waiting for me

I dream of reality
as harsh as it may be
of whats left of my sanity
and what I can see

I dream of work, food, and play
of the sun on my face
and what comes each day
all with it's own little place

I dream while awake
while the sun is still up
always for sanity's sake
though maybe not when I drink from a cup

I dream at night
when my head's on the pillow
during the times I have no sight
and my thoughts know no woe

Never will I stay here with me

Blessing From Above

When talking about you, where do I start?
How about those dark chocolate eyes that warm my heart?
Or that wonderful smile I love to see
Maybe that dimple or the way you look at me.

A listening ear is rare indeed,
Someone to listen when comes the need.
From rants to raves to squeals of delight,
You're always there for me day or night.

Before all else you are my best friend
With you by me I can take what's around the bend.
You are the friend that is closer than anyone
I know that to you I always can run.

Your touch sends shivers up my spine
So I hug you tight to make you mine.
My hand in yours just feels so right
I wish you would forever hold me tight.

When your arms are around me I feel protected
By a gentle strength I never expected.
From the one I thought I'd never say this to,
I almost can't believe how much I love you.

Your lips on my cheek, your fingers in my hair
May hands on your shoulders, I'm in your snare.
My head on your chest, the best pillow ever,
I pray that we will last forever.

To me your voice is calm and a comfort
And seemingly without any effort
With a single word you control my heartbeat
To slow and serene to quick and fleet

And your smell to me is simply divine
Like a good old book on an autumn night
Or a warm fire during the rain,
With hot chocolate as raindrops hit a windowpane.

On my finger you placed a promise ring
An engraved metal band, such a simple thing
It shows the world that we are together
With a promise that we will endure all weather.

You help me to smile when I'm not all right
You lighten my burdens, my shining knight.
Yet when need arises you're a shoulder to cry on
Like that time when I felt the pain from someone who had gone.

Along with your strength and your caring heart
You have shown great patience right from the start
You have waited patiently for some of the smallest feats
Yet it pays off for from patience comes a treat.

Your soft lips on mine sends my heart beating
Like a drum sounding loud and ever repeating
A pounding in my chest, a great steady rhythm
Like my heart will break from it's ribcage prison.

As you already know, you are my first
And in you I have become completely submersed
When thinking of you my heart soars sky high
If it wasn't for lack of wings, I swear I could fly.

You spoil me and treat me like a princess
Yet you're all I want, a gift that is priceless
Because though you can put a price on an item
Time with you is more valuable than any gem.

One day I plan to steal your last name,
You stole my heart so you're the one to blame.
But daily for you I thank the Lord above
Because to sum it all up, you're the one I love.

This is a poem I wrote for my boyfriend. *GASP* this once very un-romantic tomboy is turning into a romantic apparently. Basically, this describes how I see him and how I feel about it. I really love him. I didn't have the guts to read him this poem, so simply showed it to him and he read it. When he was done he turned to me and simply said. "You have the heart of a maiden. I love you too."
