what's the difference between fanfic and RPG?

I don't know if you've already found the answer and it's too late but RPG is role-playing game. That's where people assume the roles of other characters in a fictional setting. However a fanfic is a story about characters from another work that was not written by the original author but by a fan.

RPG: People create characters passed upon an author's world, film or even a game. They start acting play by play (Like the family spring party this is RPG.)

Fan fiction: is taking a setting, idea, character or others of an author's world, film or even a game and write there own setting, ideas or even write themselves with the story, it must be written as a whole full story (chapters by one or more author), it's just as a book but without your original idea.

So.... what do you call a poem about something? Like if someone wrote a poem about Smaug. It's not a fanfic... so... is there a certain name for it?
