April Fool's from Merry and Pip

April 1, Minas Tirith, Middle Earth.
Pippin looked out of Minas Tirith. The War of the Ring was over, and everything was perfect. It was April 1.
Merry finally woke up and stood beside Pippin on the balcony.
"It'd be April Fool's in the Shire, Pip. Why don't we do something?" Merry asked, rubbing the sleepiness out of his eyes.
Pippin's eyes lit up. "I've got an idea," Pippin exclaimed, and he whispered his amazing plan to Merry. They both snickered.
Later that day, when the guards took their break, Pippin crept up slowly and lit the beacon of Minas Tirith. He jumped down from the pile of wood and made his escape. He arrived to the spot where he and cousin had agreed to wait. Sure enough, Merry was there and Pippin gave him a thumbs-up. They stood, watching as a tiny flame appeared from the next beacon. Rohan would arrive in a few days.
