I'm curious for story writers - how long are your stories? How much have you written/how much do you plan on writing? Do you like to measure how many pages/words you have written, or do you just write? Do you ever feel like you've written too much, and it's all just a waste of space? |

lol. I htink we all feel that way sometimes. I used to htink that all my stuff was worthles. But now I realize it isn't about how good I write, or how much I write... I do it because I injoy it. And if I happen to be good enough to be published some day that would be great as well! Basicly I just get my outline, figure a bunch of stuff, then sit down and start writing. I do like to make my stories over 100 pages if I can but they don't always get there. The longest on I wrote however was 109 pages without paragraphs.. so it was pretty long one. |

Well, once I wrote a short story that was less than 2 pages. And I'm writing another short story that will be maybe 5 or so pages. But I also have some ideas for stories that would be long, like several hundred pages. I haven't gotten very far on them, though. lol |

Yeah... And some times shorter is better and other times longer is better... it all rely depends... on .... something. |

^ Yeah, unless I need to use a certain amount of words or pages for school or something, I just try to write what I need to tell the story. |

I'm on a story right now, and though it is going slow, I would guess thats its going to be about a hundred pages. When you write, get out what you want to say. explain it, but not overly so. it doesn't really matter how long it is, just that it is written well. |

Yeah, that's good advice I think. (mind you I am by no means an expert or anything) |

I don't really worry too much about length, I just write - unless there is a word limit. I think length in a lot of ways matters - sometimes you can over-tell a story, or you can trunacate it... At the moment, I'm up to 40-something typed pages with the story I'm writing... |

My fanfics are generally 40 or more pages on Microsoft Word, but I've written shorter ones. It really just depends on what the plot is, how many twists I'm going to have, what characters need interaction with each other, etc. I never know how long my stories are going to be when I sit down to write, though, because I'm always making it up as I go (even though I always have a rough draft). |

The length of my stories vary on plot, where the story is going, and the type of fic it's meant to be. I've just ventured into the whole world of fanfiction, so I've only written 7 short fics (I think the longest was only 10,000 words or something!) But I'm currently working on a fic that will (hopefully!) be much, much longer. I've written too much before, though, too. Especially when I'm in a frustrated mood, and I just keep writing garbage and not stopping. ![]() Kind of like this reply. ![]() |
