Erm........Raven Sparrow? She hasn't posted here. Are you talking about something she said in another thread?

It definitely is a wonderful book, and you're right, the stories are so well put together. Even though they're all different, they all contribute to one another and come together in some way. Plus, it provides you with a great history lesson on Middle-earth and how it all began, which I love.

Welcome by the way as you seem a bit new! You seem like you're going to be just fine here. :) Hope to see you 'round the forums!

I loved the Silmarillion...I'm on my third time reading it (in less than a year)...I would totally recommend it!

The sad part is I don't actually own it myself :annoyed:, but i've pretty much killed my sister's copy taking it to school and everything.

Me too! I totally wish I could read Tolkien for English...especially because I'm only in gr. 7, so the books we read I read when I was like 8...*sigh*

Sorry. This is really off topic.

If/when I become an English teacher, I'm gonna push the English department to make the LotR a mandatory text lol.
Recommend the Silmarillion? Of course! And no I'm not being biased, but I truly enjoy/ed the book.

I would recemend this book! I just started myself. I have read every page thus far, and I'm on chapter 2 right now. With all the school work I have to do it's hard for me to read 2-4 books at once. So, I'm going to hold off on this book till weekends and over the summer. But, it is soo informative and good!

A MUST read for all LotR fans! ;)

Good for you! I'm really glad you're reading it! I know it can be hectic with school someimtes, but I hope you find time to finish it.
It definitely is really informative, yet interestingly so. It wasn't boring. I actually like History, it's one of my favorite subjects, so of course, reading all about the History of Middle-earth was completely fascinating.

yeah, I think is worth it,...I must admit the first chapters bored me to death but now is getting interesting...I'm in the Beren and Luthien chapter.
Is interesting if you want to know the story of Middle Earth, Arda and all the characters of LOTR, how they came to be...the first chapters, in the creation of Arda, are hard to get through, at least they were for me, but now I am having fun reading the rest of it :D

I actually thought the first few chapters were fascinating, particularly with all the descriptions of the Valar. It reminded me a little bit of Greek or Roman mythology, which I think is really interesting. A lot of people have a hard time with it though, and I can see where they're coming from. The chpater on Beren and Luthien was my favorite. ;)

I've read it around 6 times... first chapters bored me to death, I admit, but the book gets awfully interesting later. I love Narn and Akallabeth most.

Hell yeah, it's worth reading! I also put it off for a long time, 'couse I thought it looked so boooring. But once I started reading, I was captivated! I was all like  ... It's Tolkien after all, just that should convince you to read it! He was a mad good writer.
