Umm... Elvish C's are pronounced like hard K's, so something like KHE-reen AHM-roth
Hmm.. that doesn't make much sense... but I'm trying to indicate a bit of a stress on the first syllable in both words..

Thanks you two! The person I know pronounces her name as KEH-RIN so that's pretty close. :D

You are very welcome. Perhaps if you had posted in the language section you would have gotten more replies, as I assume all the language people hang around there :P

How does she (or he?) spell the name? Cerin as well?

Hmm.... I think I would have pronounced the name with a soft C, like Cyron, if I didn't know... :P

You have a beautiful name, JF! :)

And as far as I know, Eä was correct on the pronounciation of Cerin Amroth.

How do you pronounce Rana? The Noldor gave that name to the moon. My name is Rana, but I pronounce it "Rena" not "Rayna" or "Reena" so... I was just wondering. The first "a" has an accent over it, in the Silmarillion, so I'm not sure how it would be said... :)

The acute accent indicates that the vowel is long -- so long a as in English father.

Hmm, since the new question brings up the old question of cerin, for myself I do not agree that the i should be as in machine, but rather as in English sick -- although I think I already noted the seeming confusion about Sindarin short i in a thread where someone asked about Minas Tirith.

Emphasis on: I think it was here :) somewhere.

Okay! Thanks! If I say my name with an accent, it sounds like that. ^^

I would say "Cerin" as Kerin, not Kerreen. :)
