What’s your impression of Gandalf so far in comparison to the LotR books?
I think Gandalf is a happier character in the hobbit and more jovial. But he still speaks in riddles!

What WOULD you do if an uninvited dwarf came and hung up his things in your hall, without a word of explanation?
I’d probably be very confused but still try to be a good host.

I also got that impression!

Good point. I never though about that...

I'm beginning to think that how we see Gandalf here is more of his day-to-day at-work character, whereas what we see in LotR is his life-or-death-this-is-the-final-task side.

That's a really good point! I never really thought of that before, but it makes a lot of sense. :)

LOL! :D I like that quote! I was like "Keep your mouth shut Bilbo" but off he went! I can just imagine a hobbit screaming like a whistle. LOL

Yeek!! I'm sorry I didn't reply sooner to this thread. :-D

What’s your impression of Gandalf so far in comparison to the LotR books?
Well, Gandalf is wise as always. Personally, I wouldn't trust anybody else but him. He knows what's best and what isn't.

What WOULD you do if an uninvited dwarf came and hung up his things in your hall, without a word of explanation?
Naturally, I would scream. Then I would call 9-1-1.
