I found a hardcover American first edition of The Book of Lost Tales Volume 1 the other day at Goodwill and didn't realize it was an FE until I got it home - then I did a happy dance.  Does anyone know if this is worth less or worth the same amount as a British FE? (Not of course that I am planning to part with it anytime soon, I'm just wondering for future reference.)

*gasp* Part with a FE copy of the Book of Lost Tales Volume 1? I have no idea what it's worth, but I would definitely keep it, if I were you. |

Aww, don't feel too bad...I didn't even know it was an FE until I got it home and thought to check. So it was more of a fluke than anything. (ALWAYS check thrift stores and Goodwill...you never know!) |

Lucky you then  I know that none of the Tolkien books is a first edition - for sure
