neither can I. Somehow I kinda feel that they've lived on forever like the elves did.. but on the other hand it was said that Valinor doesn't make mortal people immortal

I think they died, but I like to think they died in bliss at least.Valinor would take away their cares and burdens, which is sort of the least They deserved methinks.

Well, the three hobbits were all ring-bearers, and I don't think that we'll ever know why Gimli was given such a great honour.

It's even said in the book that it is a strange thingthat Gimli would be received by the Eldar. Still we don't even know if it's true because the book also says that "it is told" not that it's definitely true.
But I agree with A Reindeer. We will never know the reasons.

I would very much like to know the reasons....I'll bet someone's written a fanfiction about it somewhere.

Hey look! My post was on September 22. :D

^Ah, yes, a delightful date.

Tolkien was being deliciously mysterious about that aspect of Legolas and Gimli's story. He only added it for a little satisfaction of our curiosity of what happened to L and G. In fact, I don't think we should even discuss it so much. *gasp* I'm discussing right now! :o *runs from thread*

yeah. Bilbo, Frodo - and later on Sam as well were the only Hobbits and Gimli was the only Dwarf to ever sail to the Undying Lands I believe.

Frodo, Sam and Bilbo got to go because they were ringbearers.
