Anyone else notice the connection between Aragorn's Elessar and the old belief in Europe that touching royalty could cure diseases?

I think it's totally possible there could be a connection. JRR Tolkien did know alot about history, so maybe he heard this myth and decided to make it part of his book. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Who knows?

I'm sure that was in part the basis that Tolkien took from. I'm sure Arwen found the King's hands to be somewhat different....

Yeah, it would not surprise me if Tolkien got the idea from something like this. Good writers often look into history for ideas to add to their books. It usually is a very good move and draws more fans.

I was watching The Tudors, and King Henry VIII was sure he could heal a sick friend, but he couldn't and he went into one of his depressed swings.
