It would make an awful movie....there're so many plots to follow. The stories of Beren and Luthien, Turin and Nienor, and Tuor and Idril could all be movies on their own. If some directer was foolish enough to try putting them all into one movie, I can't think it'd be anything but a disaster.

In one film yes, but they could make another trilogy out of it. Or even a short TV series, in hour episodes.

I'm not that keen on a Silmarillion movie...if certain parts of it were made by a really spectacular director, it would be cool. But a full movie would be awful.

I think it would make some of the best movies ever but only if the right person made them and nothing was added needlessly.

It's actually very ironic when you think about it. In general, fantasy fans love Elves with all their heart and soul and loath Orcs, when really Orcs are just tortured Elves, which therefore makes them deserve even more love than normal Elves do. :p

True that.. but can you really call orcs elves anymore? Or wouldn't it be fair to say orcs have mutated into a proper race now.. sort of like the uruk-hai that is another "designed race". :teehee:

The love people have for elves is often find in the graceful, over-earthly qualities in their nature and appearance, as well as their wisdom and manners.. all things which you can't really blame orcs for posessing! :P

Yes, but all the same. There's something to be learned from all this. I just don't know what it is yet. :-D

Well, I kinda consider orcs their own race now. Many years ago they were once elves, tortured into being orcs. But since there is no way 600,000 elves were tortured into orcs, that means the orcs have bred over the years and produced their own race.

Then there's the Uruk-Hai deal. Orcs bred with the Wild men. Not really elves there either. The orcs are no longer elves anymore after many years of breeding.
