Rohan is better.
Because rohirrim respect and understand horses and other animals. They seem more brave than Gondor-people.

My favourite of the two is the Rohirrim, as they hold a personal fascination for me.

"More brave?" Hardly, every day the stand in front of Mordor! They protect against every assualt, every attack and still don't fall back to a more protected region. That place points directly to Mordor, almost a challenge for him to come. They carved the place out of a frickening mountain!!

And also, they don't really have the time to understand horses and other animals because they are too busy defending their home and the rest of middle earth. (Rohan included)

11 to 5.... this poll is rigged. lol. And sorry if that sounded mean. Just trying to get some ppl on my side. *coughrightsidecough*

The Dunedain are my fave race of men, but out of those two I go for Gondor.

I prefer rohirrim, because their country is so beautiful. I love countryside! It's so wonderful to ride somewhere on the green fields and hills below the light blue sky... Riders of Rohan are so cool and rohirrim people are closer the nature. :)
Gondor is not bad, there are many brave warriors, but I still like more Rohan.

I definitely like Gondor more--their history is so much more tragic, and consequently, cool. I mean, they're Númenórean by blood, which is far more noble and awesome than to be merely excellent horsemasters. IMHO.

Well, the Dunedain founded Gondor and Arnor, so I do like Gondor for that, but I like the free spirit of the Rohirrim better. To live in a huge city like Minas Tirith wouldn't be what I'd want to do. Sometimes the Gondorians seem a little arrogant, too...well actually, they both do, come to think of it. I guess it just comes down to who you like better :P

Rohan, definitely, DEFINITELY Rohan! I just love their rugged way of life and the characteristics it places on them. Their ways of honoring their "vitorious dead" and so on. They kind of remind me of Vikings in a way. Maybe that's why I like them so much :bones:

I am partial to vikings, which (in the movie) was rather how they were portrayed (the architecture was overwhelmingly Nordic)
I adore the Rohan people, their fire --even when their own king's mind is overthrown-- is admirable! I mean, I do love the Gondorians but their pride in their bloodline does not attract my attentions as much as the devotion to beasts as noble as horses.
Another thing is the humble attitude the Rohirric people have... Rohan all the way!

Can't really pick between the two options. The northern Dunedain is my preference, but I like the Rohirrim too. And the Rohirrim were descended from the Northmen, who also intermingled with the people of Gondor causing the 'kin-strife'. The men of Dale also descened from them. Of course there are the hillmen of Rhuadur, the Dunlandings, the Easterlings, the Haradrim, & the men of Khand.

That's a hard decision. I like both for different reasons, but I like Rohan a bit more. They seem very Viking/Anglo Saxon, and I like that culture. I'm drawn to the proud, tragic air of their psyche.

I agree with Aerwyn about the equality in arrogance factor between Gondorians and the Rohirrim. They both have their arrogant moments. Most of what I wanted to say about my side has already been said. haha. (Good job Hobobagins  )

I admit that I'm a Gondorian at heart. I can more easily relate to the Gondorians than the Rohirrim. Despite all that has happened to the people of Gondor they still have the strength to continue to do what they feel they have to and what they feel is right. Their past is tragic as quite a few of you have pointed out but it only add to their strength. Their loyalty to each other and their feelings is something I admire. Not to mention the forces at Osgiliath are the only thing holding Sauron's army at bay whilst most of the others are in peacetime (well, until Saruman's betrayal anyway). To stand up to an army like that day after day and not falter takes a tremendous amount of courage, you must admit.

With a brilliant (yet tragic) past, a loyalty and bravery to be admired, and beautiful architecture. Gondor is whey my loyalty lies.

yes the Dunedain are indeed the best but then there's no competition between them
