the lord of the rings prolog says there were three main races of hobbits the Harfoots, Stoors and Fallohides, what type do you think that Smeagul is?

The Harfoots were browner of skin, smaller, and shorter, and they were beardless and bootless; their hands and feet were neat and nimble and they preferred highlands and hillsides.

The Stoors were broader, heavier in build; their feet and hands were larger, and they preferred flat lands and riversides.

The Fallohides were fairer of skin and also of hair, and they were taller and slimmer than the others; they were lovers of trees and of woodlands.

I personally believe that he is part Harfoot part Stoor what about you?

I'm pretty sure he was Stoor; he lived by the riverside before he became Gollum. Not so sure about Harfoot. But it's spelled "Sméagol".

Yes but he was quite obviously not broader nor heavier than the hobbits and his fingers where long not broad though the river part I'll grant you is most likely Stoor that is why I said part Harfoot part Stoor. But yes there is in my mind no doubt that there is a large portion of him is Stoor. :duh: Oops thanks I just forgot how to spell it

I put Stoor and Fallohide purely becuase Gollum is quite tall realy if he stops stooping, tall for a hobbit that is.

Interesting. I'm still leaning towards Stoor.

I count on Stoor because his place of living; not sure about his build because I don't remember if Tolkien mentioned it in the books (I mean, his build before he became Gollum).
