Well, I don't know about the rest of you, but I have a huge love of Fëanor's boys. All 7 of them.
Evil and not-so-evil, torn between their oath and doing right, mentally disturbed, tragic, and elvish.
What's not to love?
Maedhros (Pronounced My thros), the eldest. Called The Tall, was captured by Morgoth and hung from a precipice at Thangorodrim by his right hand. (
...ow... ) Rescued by Fingon, who had to cut off Maedhros' hand in order to do so. When he and his brothers assaulted the realm of Doriath, two young princes, Dior’s sons were taken and left to die in the forest. Maedhros repented of this deed and searched long for them, but found no trace. He and Maglor finally recovered two of the Silmarils, but the one he took burned his hand and caused him so much pain that he threw himself into a fiery chasm.
Maglor, considered to be the second greatest singer and minstrel of all time. When Elrond and Elros (as children) were taken captive by Maedhros and Maglor, he took pity on them and cherished them, and love grew between them. (awww!
) When he and Maedhros recovered two Silmarils, he threw his into the sea because of the pain, and lived the rest of his days singing in regret beside the waves...
Celegorm the fair, the owner of Huan the hound. He is the most well-known for his capture of Lúthien at Nargothrond, along with his brother Curufin. He held her hostage, and tried to force Thingol (Lúthien’s Father) to make her marry him. (
) That failing, he did his best to prevent Beren from completing his task of retreating one Silmaril from Morgoth, but wasn’t very lucky in that either. He was eventually killed by Dior, Beren and Lúthien’s son, when he and his brothers laid siege to Doriath.
