...are the hands of the healer. Anyone else notice the connection between Aragorn's Elessar and the old belief in Europe that touching royalty could cure diseases? Think there's a connection? Discuss! |

I think it's totally possible there could be a connection. JRR Tolkien did know alot about history, so maybe he heard this myth and decided to make it part of his book. Or maybe it's just a coincidence. Who knows? |

I'm sure that was in part the basis that Tolkien took from. I'm sure Arwen found the King's hands to be somewhat different.... |

Yeah, it would not surprise me if Tolkien got the idea from something like this. Good writers often look into history for ideas to add to their books. It usually is a very good move and draws more fans. |

I was watching The Tudors, and King Henry VIII was sure he could heal a sick friend, but he couldn't and he went into one of his depressed swings. |
