Odd question, but I thought it would be interesting to see what other people said. They could be by publishing date. Or chronological order. Or no order at all.

My books are on my shelf this way:
The Hobbit
Fellowship
Two Towers
Return of the King
Silmarillion
Unfinished Tales
Tolkien Quiz Book!

haha, this is a fun question! *checks bookshelf*
my books are as follows:

boxed older edition of Hobbit/LotR
normally beside it would be my new edition of LotR (but my brother's been borrowing it, so it's not there)
the silmarillion
a biography of jrr tolkien
the complete tolkien companion
the adventures of tom bombadil
unfinished tales
the hobbit

Yaay for random questions!

I keep all me Tolkien books in my room on a little 3 - 4 ft bookcase. :) My preciousss--es. :-D

In this order:

On Top (shelf 5, I suppose): The Lord of the Rings.

(shelf 3 has LotR goodies :bounce: )

Shelf 2 has: The Hobbit, The Book of Lost Tales I, The Book of Lost Tales II, The Shaping of Middle Earth, The Return of the Shadow, The Treason of Isengard, The War of the Ring, Sauron Defeated, Morgoth's Ring, The War of the Jewels, The Peoples of Middle Earth, The Silmarillion, The Tolkien Reader.

*pant pant*

....And Shelf 1 has LotR Board games and my elvish notebook.

Whooo-hooo for Tolkien geeks! :punk:

Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
Return of the King

lol Mines are piled randomly on different shelves :P Which meant that last time I read them I couldn't find Return of the King. :duh:
But I blame my sister for that she had been the last person to read them.

I'm also not quite sure where either of my copies of the hobbit are.

Well most of the time they're scattered throughout my house but when I clean up my room I gather them up and put them on my shelf in this order:

The Hobbit
FotR
TTT
RotK
The Silmarillion
Unfinished Tales
Book of Lost Tales I
Book of Lost Tales II

And right beside them I put my HP books :)

^Ah yes, my HP books are in order right next to my LotR ones. They are all on the "Fav Books" shelf.

My boxed set of The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings
Unfinished Tales
The Silmarillion

There probably is some secret reason why they are like this... I suspect has a lot to do with the book size and shape...

I keep LOTR on the same shelf as HP, too. It's the only shelf that isn't two-books deep and doesn't have book stacked horizontally in the space betwen the top of the other books and the top of the shelf...

In book order, of course! :p

The Silmarillion
The Hobbit
The Fellowship of the Ring
The Two Towers
The Return of the King

The Unfinished Tales are at the end... simply because it's a smaller book than the others, lol!

I'm reading the Hobbit, so that one isn't on the shelf!
I haven't read Lost Tales yet. It doesn't fit on the shelf, because all my HP books are on the same shelf (in Dutch and in English!).
I've got seven LotR related books from the library but they're somewhere else (en my bed ;)) and so are The Appendices and Middle-Earth for Dummies (I'm no Dummie, but it's a really good book!)

I think mine are-
Our beat up copy of FotR that Mom got when she was thirteen
A TTT from the same series, in two halves, missing its cover
RotK, missing part of the index and both covers, but in much better shape than the others
The Hobbit
The Silmarillion
My friend's Unfinished Tales (yikes, I've had it for a year!)
The Book of Lost Tales 1
The Book of Lost Tales 2
The Lost Road
Only on that shelf during vacation when I'm not using it is my school copy of LotR, one volume
And far too sacred to be on the shelf with my other lowly books, (Kidding, kidding. It's just too big for the shelf. :P) is my Alan Lee illustrated one volume hardcover. My prize possession. My preciousss...

Later I'll check and see if I actually got it right. I'm too lazy to go check right now. :P
