It's so moving! and beautiful and sad and... it's also captivating. It's not just a basic fairy-tale romance, but it has real depth to it. While sometimes the "romantic" side can been seen as a bit too fictional and not based in realism (unfortunately ... ) the conflicts Luthien and Beren face are so realistic and have relevance to today.
My deep and meaningful post for today.

I truly liked the story of Luthien and Beren. I was so...I can't express it. It is just a perfect story, it shows that not al lovestories are boring.

It was so moving...it was..it was just so beautiful!! Did you know that when Tolkien's wife died he wrote Luthien on her tombstone, and when he died he had them write Beren on his. isn't that romantic!! And they were also saying on the EE's that before they got married his wife danced for him...kind of like when Beren found Luthien!! Isn't that lovely!!!??

It was just a brilliant story, one of Tolkien's most moving. It's deep. I mean, heck. It was big enough to go on Tolkien and his wife's tombstone. O_O

I felt so sorry for Luthien.. she got mistreated by her kinsmen, almost forced to marry one of them!! Good thing she had the wolf, Huan, to help her!

It HAD to be good to get me interested... since romance as a rule bores me to tears.

I think that we should study The Tale of Beren and Luthien instead of Romeo and Juliett in school. I would pay attention to that.
I think it's a fabulous story and I found it so romantic that the names Beren and Luthien were written on Tolkien and his wife's tombstones. It's just beatiful *sigh*. I think I would die of happiness if I ever got to see those tombstones. That would be so amazing!

I loved it! I especially like the how Strider summarizes it in FOTR. My favorite part in the story would have to be when "and doom fell upon her and she loved him:

It really is a sad story... but also kind of hopeful, because they gave everything for each other, and finally found happiness before they died...

What message do you think it shows? Just curious.
I was very excited when reading the Silmarillion, looking forward to that one part...then when I reached it, I didn't find it half as good as I'd hoped. It was well-written, of course, and a lovely story, I suppose...I guess my dislike for romance just carried through.

LOL I know how you feel... it was just as well that the story was well written, or I wouldn't have been able to put up with all that romance!
