My grandparents gave me Unfinished Tales for my birthday. I haven't started reading it yet, but I'd like to hear you're opinion about it. I've seen already there's a huge list of names, so I guess it's not going to be easy to read. ![]() |

No it is not easy but it totally worths the time of reading. You can get many information that will help you understand better some stories from the Silmarillion. |

Yeah, it's definetely not easy but it's amazing if you are really a Tolkien fan. I would give you just one advice... if you read the Silmarillion a long time ago, it would be easier if you reread the Silmarillion before starting the Unfinished Tales. It worked for me 'cause I had forgotten most of the names... Anyway, enjoy your reading, it's fantastic. ![]() And when you finish, tell us your impressions of the book! |

UT rocks! I love the book, it gives you many additional infos, but I suggest you writing the names & stuff on some list because it´s really easy to get lost. |

I particularily enjoyed the extended, yet unfinished, tale of Tuor's coming to Gondolin, and the tale of Aldarion and Erendis. I first read the Unfinished Tales after my first, I believe, succesful attempt at reading the Silmarillion. Well of course all the names and places were all a confuddled mess in my mind-you'll get them all in place in time, they did for me.^^ |

I read the Sil almost a year ago so I'm definitely going to reread it as soon as possible! |

Oh UT is excellent i love it i just bought it too! I finished it in one and yes it is well worth the read. But the crappy thing is that is doesn't have much history of Legolas's family. only a few mentions lol |

I read the Silmarillion, then reread it, and then reread it a few more times yet, and then my Dad gave me the Unfinished Tales, so by then I had all the names firmly in my mind, so I didn't have any trouble. It's not easy, I guess, but it really explains a lot. It's an amazing book, and I really love it. |

I know that... I often don't have much time for reading either... I often use my time for reading when I'm sick |

I've read only part of the UT, but I would say it's a good book to have. I liked the part where Gandalf explains some things to the others in Minas Tirith after the Ring is destroyed. |

Oh i love UT!!! i'm almost done with it. I got it for christmas. i just read the part about the quest for the Ring about the ringwraiths. i love that part! the story about Tuor going to Gondolin was amazing but the story about Aldarion and Erendis was quite annoying. like they got married, but then they were apart and, u know. i didn't like that story very much. but i love the book!!!! |

It's a must-read for anyone that want more detail and depth of the Silmarillion stories, Second Age, and also give some interesting insight into later Third Age (Quest of Erebor) Thoroughly enjoyable |
