I'm pretty sure I read somewhere they they wandered among the Ered Luin, or the Blue Mountains. ... Or maybe that's where they came into M-E from. ... :hobbles off to grab all Tolkien books and flip through indexes:

Some more info for ya:
-Alatar was one of the 3 wizards [Istari] selected by the Valar.
-Pallando and Alatar were known together as Ithryn Luin, meaning the Blue Wizards.
-The two traveled with Saruman for a time [adding to the belief that they became corrupted] until Saruman returned to the West.
-Alatar is roughly translated as 'aftercomer'.
Alatar was the second Wizard selected to go to Middle-Earth after Saruman.
-An alternative [and interesting] translation of Alatar's name is also 'noble giant'.
-Pallando was taken by Alatar to Middle-Earth as a friend.
-Thus, Pallando was not selected by a Vala to go to Middle-Earth.
-Tolkien writes that he believed the two Wizards ultimately failed there quest, and most likely began secret cults and magical traditions that lasted even after Sauron's downfall.

Hope this is enough info for you. Took me a lot of time to find, and even some of it I didn't know. :-D

It might be noted that so far we don't have Tolkien himself translating either Alatar or Pallando. Also, later he arguably lost the paper with these names -- or in any case, he later invented different names for these wizards, at least in the context of continuing to try and figure out a scenario surrounding the "other two"... and I say "other two" as JRRT's "Blue Wizard text" came before a letter in which Tolkien stated that he did not know their colours, and doubted the other two had distinctive colours.

Anyway, for my guess, I think Alatar might mean "Light-lord, Lord of Light"... comparing Tolkien's Annatar "Gift-lord" and the Telerin form of Galadriel, Alatáriel (Quenya Naltariel, Altariel) which appears to contain *ñalatâ "radiance, glittering reflection". See the Silmarillion Appendix: "In the High-elven speech her name was Al(a)táriel, derived from alata "radiance" (Sindarin galad) and riel..."

Of course as I note, even my guess it not attested by Tolkien (no guess is, so far?).

I could be wrong but I heard one person say they thought they ended up down around Harad. Which could be how they got involved in the war of the ring if they were turned like Saruman. Have no idea if it would be true, just a thought. They are pretty mysterious.

I think that may just be conjecture of a particular fanfic I read on Henneth Annun some years back. I may have to look for it on AO3.
