I think that Beren did the most for the obvious reason for nickling a silmaril for that little tea leaf morgoth but turin does rock as well.

Um, I'd say definately Beren, at least directly (he ended up having an entire army devoted to tracking him down and capturing/killing him!), but Earendil probably did the worst damage, indirectly, by sailing to Valinor and getting the Valar to come back and defeat Morgoth. Beren wounded him, Earendil destroyed him, indirectly.

Didnt Turin slay loads of Orcs tho when he was a) on the marches of Doriath, b) when he was one of the 2 captains, C) when he fought against Glaurung the smelly dragon in Nargothrond and killing loads of orcs + glaurung himself in Brethil. I m buzzing but my personal fave edain is Turin so Im a little bit Biased so whatever mate. Did Beren actually wound Morgoth???

no he didnt. at least nothing about this is said in the sil or the lost tales. i think Húrin and Huor did a great deal too. if they hadn't defended turgon who could retreat there would perhaps not been a gondolin and earendil might not have been born...

Did I read that correctly? Aerandir, what do you mean that Earendil did the most damage? If it wasn't for him, all of Beleriand and Middle-Earth would have been in shadows if it wasn't for the aid of the Valar called by Earendil. And what do you mean by:- "indirectly"?

I'd say that Túrin and Beren did most in the war against Morgoth.
Beren got a Silmaril from Morgoth and also was one of Barahir's "outlaws" who did a lot against Morgoth's servants.
Túrin was the slayer of Glaurung and also killed a lot of Morgoth's servants.

Eruhin, Turin did do that. EonwesBestMate was correct.
Earendil, I'm not sure what exactly you're asking. From the looks of your post, you stated the same points as I did, and yet made it seem as though I was wrong. I think we both agree, though.
Earendil did the most damage to Morgoth indirectly, because he did not do anything to Morgoth himself, but he brought down a bunch of people on Morgoth who did do a lot against him.

I think Earendil The Mariner only missunderstood the word damage in ur post Aerandir. I think Earendil The Mariner thought you were saying that Earendil (the real one..) did the most damage to Middle-Earth.

Yes, my fault. I mis-read your post Aerandir. Please forgive me. Quote: think Earendil The Mariner only missunderstood the word damage in ur post Aerandir. No it's cos I thought Aerandir meant that Earendil did the most damage to the people of Beleriand hehe. But thanks for posting your comment in my defence Firiel.
Sorry once again for my misunderstandment!
Thanks

by the way aerandir: when i said: "no he didn't" i actually meant that beren did not wound morgoth. a splinter of the knife with which he cut the silmaril from the iron crown hit morgoths cheek but i wouldn't call that a wound.
